MILESTONES • Nineteen Hundred Sixty-Nine Kings Mountain High School • Kings Mountain, North Carolina MAlfrfflY MEMORIAL LIBRA V 100 S. PIEDMONT AVENUE KSNOS MOUNTAIN, N.C. 2 0)6 We, the members of the Milestones staff of 1969, present to you this yearbook to cherish and to keep. This book is an attempt to capture in picture and prose, this year at Kings Mountain High School. It is also our hope that the attitudes of the students will be expressed — the joy, the disappointments, the love, and the devotion. We intend that you, the student, will find the Milestones a mirror, which will reflect seme of your experiences at this school. You will see the chaos of the opening day, the first back-to-school dance, the thrill of the football season, and the joy of snow days. What student does not remem¬ ber Junior-Senior and May Day? What senior does not recall the nostalgia of knowing that this is his last year at Kings Mountain High? Read this book and remember. Dedicated to To an inspiring teacher, to a gracious lady, to an understanding friend, to one who has guided us and shown a personal interest in each of us, to a teacher who has dedi¬ cated her life and energies to the youth of Kings Mountain High School, we dedicate this 1969 Milestones to Mrs. Mardecia E. May Day ’68 One of the highlights of the school year is the presentation of the May Queen and her court. Each year the students of Kings Mountain High School prepare and present to the Queen and the community a program which is directed by faculty members. The theme for May Day this year was based on the Old South. The program was directed by Miss Donna Dotson. May Day cast line up for presentation Junior Senior The biggest social event at Kings Mountain High School is the Junior-Senior. It is held in the school gymnasium in April. The theme for the Junior-Senior was Between Two Worlds. This imaginative theme was carried out very beautifully by portraying a side¬ walk scene from Paris and a scene of Diamond Head in Hawaii. Some of the goals that were achieved by the SPO were greater student representation in policy making, constitutions were written for the school organizations, and a suc¬ cessful Homecoming program was carried out.
