Introduction As we, the students of Kings Mountain High School, turn the pages of this the 1968 Milestones, many memories will return. There is the informal friendliness reflected in this annual that typifies our high school. Happi¬ ness, sadness, success, and failure are pre¬ sented here. As time is reviewed, many and varied happenings return. The dedication of the John H. Gamble Stadium was a realization of a hope and dream that the entire community had shared for several years. Highlights of the football season were the Homecoming queen and her court, and the defeat of our arch rival, Shelby. Basketball this year-Oh, how would anyone begin to describe it? The season began with a hope of success. As the games progressed, the wins mounted. The Southwestern and the Bi-Con- ference tournaments that we hosted were hectic. Winning those games, we went to Kannapolis where we felt the most bitter of disappointments. By then there were our four Easter holidays to start planning. Those eight snow days were nice, but now school is on a Saturday. It would have to be April 20, Junior-Senior Prom day! Baseball season began; May Day was pro¬ duced; Senior plays were practiced and pre¬ sented; and the graduation practice began. But, wait! Let’s turn the pages forward for a backward look at this year.
