The Superintendent Heads the Administration of the School System The superintendent is the commander- in-chief of the Kings Mountain School District administration. Although he has no vote as the secretary, he advises the Board of Education and follows their dic- tates regarding school policy. He Works with the principals to insure smooth management of each school. He handles the official correspondence for the school district, interviews prospec- tive employees, sees that the buildings are kept in good repair, makes out the budget, and informs the public of import- ant school matters. The Board of Education Is Concerned with Man Matters The Kings Mountain Board of Education members are state officials elected by the people of the Kings Mountain School District. Functioning as a team, their main responsibility is to give the local young people the best possible education with the available funds. Their diverse duties include approval of the budget, election of the teach- ers, and the assignment of the pupils to their schools. They must make cer- tain that the school system is operated according to the school laws. They work closely for the common good with other government officials in CAGO. They remain in close contact with the public, as in the case of the Stadium Committee.
