According to Aristotle, men are social animals who naturally group together and organize themselves. The following pages are evidence that Kingsmen are no exception to this classical philosopheris hypothesis. The men at Kings group together and organize themselves in what is termed ticlubs? But, to label these organizations as itclubsii is ambiguous and unfair. The word ticlubii connotes a group of individuals organized for social purposes. At Kings, clubs are more than social groups. The majority of clubs at Kings are societies of students who share similar interests. Clubs provide a common ground for these Kingsmen to develop their interests by discussing and participating in activities with others. Although most clubs are related to ones major field, there are also those which are completely atonomous from the studentis specialized held. Within this group are religious societies, honor societies, politically affiliated clubs, the publications, and those which are composed of Kingsmen from similar geographical locations. Fortunately Kingis has no fraternities or any other type of purely social organizations. Therefore, the clubs have embraced the function of assuring Kingsmen of the social benefits which are expected from college life. Dances, parties, banquets and any other social events are sponsored by these organizations. A particularly successful year was enjoyed by many of the clubs at Kings. Perhaps the ,68 Regis served as a catalyst to persuade previously lethargic organizations to awaken and become active in the college community. As usual most clubs were a social success providing members with as many good times as one could hope for. But more important, the majority of clubs served members as a supplement to their classroom education. They provided a man to man relationship, rather than the teacher-student relationship which is often found in many classrooms.
