It is the custom to elect a fraternity sweetheart each spring. The sweetheart for 1970 was chosen by the brothers of Kappa Beta Chi. The sweetheart is Carlie Zierath. The fraternity's Little Sister is June Creech. The Sweetheart and Little Sister help in the preparation of parties given by the fraternity. This year the fraternity adopted a new shield from an original design by Frank Russell. This shield dipicts the aspects stressed by the frater- nity. New fraternity pins were introduced into the fraternity Winter Quarter. 107 --...... Q lv wi... W1 ni '-,E A

V. gg, ii' as f f , . I X 1- K B X Kappa Beta Chi believes that all traits of character may be classified under five headingsg namely, PHYSICAL, IVIENTAL, SPIRITUAL, ECONOIVIIC, AND SOCIAL. Therefore, it shall be the purpose of this fraternity to encourage its members to develop themselves as fully as possible in each of these five phases of life. Kappa Beta Chi fraternity not only grows in brotherhood, but in service as well. Each year the brothers of KBX sponsor the Red Cross blood drive. At the end of each quarter, the fraternity buys and sells books as a service to the student body. A vital part of the fraternity year are the pledge periods. Here is a chance for the brothers to meet the new perspective members. The initiation ceremonies are something each new pledge will remember for years to come. The annual Beachcomber weekend in lVlay is the perfect opportunity for the entire fraternity to travel south to the beach. Kappa Beta Chi is the opportunity for those who seek the friend- ship of a few and the the close relationships that develop between brothers. It is the chance to share and work together for a common cause. Being a brother of Kappa Beta Chi extends beyond the campus of King's College. lt goes further out into the world to affect those who come into contact with a Kappa Beta Chi gentleman. ' 1,06
