ING’S in 1964— a junior college with a greatly inereased student body and faculty, expanded facilities and activities, and a curriculum designed to perpetuate the modern concept of “Education for Business.” K I % The nearly one thousand students who today o ' erflow the halls and I classrooms form a sharp contrast to the thirty-fi ' e students who occupied the halls of the “old” King’s in 1943. These thirty-five came to be instructed in the limited “commercial” or “stenographic” courses of the day; those of today come for more extensive training in areas such as Business Administration, the secretarial sciences, and accounting with IBM automation. Each year brings to King’s more and more facets of “college living,” which are in evidence in the bustling dormitory life, in the ever-growing athletic program, and in the general social activities of the students. Each year brings to the administration the culmination of many hours of planning and the challenge of future growth. The year 1964 was an exciting and eventful year in the life of King’s. This year’s team consisted of girls who had played high school basketball and some wbo had won all-conference honors. However, because the girls lacked the experience of having played together, the season opened with little promise of success. The final outcome of the season can be attributed to the energy, enthusiasm and determi- nation of Coach Ed Wells, and the girls to produce a winning team. Employing cunning coaching techniques, Coach Wells molded a M ' inning team worthy of facing the stiffest competition. On Thursday, August 6, a group of sixty-two students and seven faculty chaperones left for a college sponsored tour of the New York World’s Fair and a brief stopover in Washington, D. C. While in New York, the tourists were guests of Columbia University. After two “foot-weary” days of viewing the many dazzling sights of the Fair, the group toured Man- hattan and attended a show at Radio City Music Hall. While in Washington, the sightseers were graci- ously entertained by Congressman Charles Raper Jonas. Congressman Jonas guided the visitors on a tour of the House of Representatives and invited them to lunch in the Congressional cafeteria.
