QQ 'FJHE FGALISMAN 'M Surprise On a clear. cold january evening, jan. 4, the Senior class journeyed to Mrs. Coale's apartment, surprising her with a farewell party. There were ahout twenty present. Games were played, Ice cream and homemade cake was served. Mrs. Coale was presented with a heautiful lavelier, hy the Senior class, as a token of rememhrance. Welcome, Mac Mr. McDonald was welcomed hy the Senior class, in the form of a theater party, on Feh. 5. They attended The Taming of the Shrew. Everyone enjoyed the play with the exception of one or two who told us they would like to meet Mr. Shakespeare. Weiner Roast The Sophomore class have had many good times this year due to the excellent direction of Harold Livingston and his efficient class committees. A weiner roast held at Water Works Park was the first event of the Soph, social and one thoroughly enf joyed hy all. On jan. 18 a real good time party was held in the gym. of the school. Games and refreshments made it a remarkahle success. Surprise ! The Comhined Girls' Choruses gave a surprise party for Florence just hefore she left for Chicago. There were ahout fifty present. It was held at Miss Munns' home. She was presented with a goingfaway gift. Oratory Harold Livingston with an original oration entitled Blind won the annual Cos' inopolitan Contest. He presented the cup he won to the school. If this cup is won hy the same school three years in succession, it remains the property of that school. We expect to keep the cup, as Harold has two more years of High School. Harold also won second place in the Bradley InterfScholastic meet. He was coached hy Mr, McDonald, National Chorus This year we were ahle to send a representative to the National High School Chorus, which was held at Chicago, March 28th. Uur representative was Florence Poshard. The National High School Chorus consisted of four hundred and twenty students in one hundred and sixtyfeight high schools in forty different states. Peoria sent eight meinhers to this chorus. Senior Weiner Roast The Senior Girls were hostesses to all the athletic fellows on April 4. They went to the Scout Camp, Newt Kinney and Newell Ingram were the heroes, having eaten fifteen hot dogs and fifty marshmallows apiece, Mr. MacDonald led the games, which everyone enjoyed immensely, There were ahout hfty-five present. Junior Glass Play cc NN'S LITTLE AFFAIRH was successfully aired hy the junior Class, April 25, 1930. This is only the second time in the history of Kingman High School that a junior Class has attempted a play and it was thoroughly enjoyed. The opening scene is in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bonner, parts taken hy Darlye Saurhaugh and Lois Vauhel. They have two spoiled children, Geraldine, a ilapper, taken hy Doris Dixon, and Harold, a modern youth, taken hy Lester Claasen. Pete Reynolds, a wealthy young hachelor, played hy Charles Goodwin, comes to Bonner's house and is mistaken for a chauffeur. After seeing Miss Lane, the Bonner secretary, he takes the joh. At their party Reynolds knows none of the guests except a widow, Mrs. Cresf well, taken hy Olive Stewart, to whom he was once engaged. She promises to keep his seeret, Mrs. Creswell's pearls are stolen, and a detective, Dick Gregg, is ealled. He decides that Barnum is the thief and that Miss Lane is working with him. This is all thrown over hy Harold's confessing he put the pearls in Miss Lane's hag to get even with her. Before Barnum and Miss Lane leave the next morning, he hreaks the news that they are to he married. Mrs. Creswell gives the secret away that he is not Pete Reynolds. The suecess of the play was due to hard and persistent work of the juniors and the excellent coaching and managing of Miss Margaret Wright and Miss Lueille Conlon. Page 73
