Teacher . . . amused with hard work??? I: m Burl Bartlett Superintendent The 1977-78 School Year has been an excellent one for our entire student body. I have watched with pride as our K..H.S. Students have developed and matured as young adults. I have seen the spirit of K.H.S. come alive in both the academic and the activity programs. Every organiza- tion has come to stand for excellence. The achievements and accomplishments of this year will be measured over the life span of each of our students. The measure of the quality of an institution or of a people is in what they do. not in what they say. The tradition of excel- lence that you have helped build will serve you well. I congratulate you on a job well done. My wish for you is for continued success and life’s very best in the years to come. Rodger Howell Principal What do you want to do in your life? Become famous, make a million dollars, hold high prestigious offices, be an advisor to people in high offices. All of these are worth-while goals to be achieved, providing that they supply one ingredient for you. Happiness. Happiness and contentment are the most important ingredients of life. It doesn’t matter how much you have or how little you have if you are happy. Most happiness does not come from the accumulation of honors or things. Most happiness comes from being of service to or supplying a need of your fellow man. This is the lesson that is taught to us by our Jesus. Fol- low his example, and find happiness in your everyday living. Start now being of service to your fellow students. FBLA is an educational youth organization designed for students interested in business as a career. The King- fisher chapter of FBLA consists of 65 students who are enrolled or have been enrolled in some type of business course such as typing, shorthand, or account- ing. The members may join their Sophomore year and may rejoin through their Senior year. Some of the purposes of FBLA are: to develop aggressive business leader- ship and to create more interest and understanding in the choice of buisness occupations. Some of the business activities that our FBLA chapter has partici- pated in were (1) giving food baskets to the needy families on Thanksgiving (2) helping with the Heart Fund drive by donating $250.00 and going house to house for donations (3) for C hristmas we went out and decorated the trees. sang songs, handed out gifts, and served refreshments. FBLA has monthly meetings which involve the businesses downtown. We have guest speakers and take field trips. FBLA raised enough money to send two of our students to the National Convention in Denver last summer and paid 40 members to attend the State Convention in the city, which we will be attending again in March at Tulsa. At this convention the members compete in Typing I and II, Shorthand, Account- ing. Spelling. Business Communications, Office Procedure, Job Interview and Mr. and Mrs. F BLA. They can also run for a state office. We were honored to come back with a winner last year, Kathy Stolz, she won state reporter. We raise this money by selling Blue and Gold Sausage. Our advisors are Mrs. Kel- ler and Mrs. Post. FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA FBLA y FIRST ROW. left ro right: Wayde Klingsick. Brian Erwin. Kevin Cliffl. Cindy Prosser. Cindy Edds, Hazel Johnson. H j1 The Health Service Careers class is a one-year program open to all 11th and 12th grade students. The two objectives of the course are (1) to teach the technical skills normally performed bv health assistants and (2) to learn about other health-related careers. Technical skills are first practiced in the classroom laboratory and later, clinical experience is gained through work experiences with patients at Community Hospital. Hukill’s Nursing Center, and in the offices of Drs. Stephen Arthurs. Carroll Hoisted, Gary Palmer, James Smith and Don Robison. The Kingfisher chapter of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) has participated in many activities this year. In September they worked at the VoTech booth at the State Fair. They attended two State-level leadership conferences, taking a 1st place award in two competitions. Field trips have helped illustrate the many health careers available to students. The trips taken by this year’s students include University Hospital in Oklahoma City, Kingfisher County Health Department, Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. Enid State School in Enid, and the Kingfisher City Fire Depart- ment and Emergency Servic 13 OKLAHOMA HEALTH OCCUPATIONS STUDENTS OF AMERICA POWDER PUFF FIRST ROW. left to right: Mrs. Rutledge.
