Ross Kirtley, Vice-President - Sandy Hix, Secretary - Marla Schwarz, Treasurer - Nancy Howell, and Reporter - Scott Smith. The fantastic Junior float, 'Ts It Soup Yet? , won first place in the float contest. The float was graced by our class queen, Cindy Wilmot. Much support and guidance was given by our class spon- sors - Mr. Edge, Mr. Moore, Mrs. Barton, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Teders, and Mr. Freeman. Our Junior year was full of wins. Not only did we win first in the float contest, but we also won second in the min-float contest. I Never Promisted You a Rose Garden was the original mini-float theme. After a hard fought battle, we finished second in the Annual King and Queen contest. We were well represented by Marla Scnwarz and Gerald McMullin. We were fortunate to be able to be the first class to use the new Junior stand. To add to our busy year, we planned and presented a beautiful prom. Our theme was Evening on a Southern Plantation. We would like to express our thanks to our class parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Kirtley, and Mr. and Mrs. Oral Stake. We’re very proud of all our accomplishments during our Junior year, and we're eagerly looking forward to our Senior year. John shows GREAT effort cutting paper for the prom !!! As president we chose Doug Jech; the office of vice-president was bestowed upon Susan Gooden; Jody Walker was selected as secretary-treasurer, and as reporter we decided upon Julie WilczeK. Recognizing the need for good class representation, we chose Marcus Godsey and Leslie Smith to serve as our representatives on the Student Council. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Godsey and Mr. and Mrs. Parker Hightower were selected as class parents. Just when school life started to get us down, we were presented the task of constructing a float for Football Homecoming. Our endeavors, in this aspect, proved successful in that our theme - Raid, the Wolverine Killer - placed second. We carried out this theme with a triumphant Yellowjacket spraying the beaten and con- quered Garber Wolverines. Our float was graced with our lovely and charming queen, Debbie Martin. As class favorites we elected Susan Gooden and Carl Themer. Despite our efforts, we were defeated in the Annual King and Queen contest. We did, however, make a good showing with many games and activities ranging from a football throw to a penny toss. In conclusion we would like to thank our sponsors for all of their trouble and time. These include Zollie Larrabee, Ray Schoonmaker, Betty Cooksey, Bob Smith and Bonnie Dage. Our float came in fourth place in the Homecoming parade. Our queen, Carolyn Steen, rode the float during the parade and at half time of the football game. The next big event came during Annual Week. We chose Terry Livingston and David M. Hehry for our class favorites. On our activities day, our class had a pie walk, a movie, and some of tne charming males of the class entered a Beauty Contest. The colors chosen to represent our class were purple and white. For our class party we had a dance which was held in the lunch room. We were very active during annual week and worked hard to support our class favorites, Cherri Nelson and Neil Schemmer. As we close our school year with this yearbook, we close an important period of our lives. We re- flect back on the memories - pleasant and unpleas- ant - and look forward to our future years. While we look back through the pages of this yearbook, we remember all the new and exciting things we did and learned, and we say thank you to all the people who have helped us. Through the year we have made many mistakes, but we have learned from them, and we will be more capable to cope with our future problems as a r e s u 11 of our past experiences. Through the pictures in this yearbook, we can see ourselves as others see us, and remember how we spent our high school years. 1 hope that we, the 1971-1972 Yellowjacket Staff, have preserved the memories of this fantastic year as we played our roll as students at Kingfisher High School.
