RUSSELL PURSELL Superintendent I have tremendous faith in the young people of the Kingfisher Schools. Our community can witness each succeeding day the prowess of boys and girls in action. Given a reasonable amount of intelligent leadership, youth accumulates an ever-growing reservoir of worthwhile deeds. I have no sympathy for those adults grown old mentally, if not physically, who lament the shortcomings of the younger generation, not that every boy and girl is a model of correct deeds or the symbol of a wished-for perfec- tion. Who is? Yet the high hope for the fulfillment of the American dream is to be found in the astonishing record of achievement of American youth today. I know that every student will become a useful citizen and uphold the high ideals of Kingfisher High School. Now Hear This! In order for a democracy, such as the United States of America, to be successful, we need to develop in our people these three things: General education to make all citizens capable of intelli- gent thinking; the development of a keen-minded leadership which knows what it wants but is will- ing to lead rather than drive its fellow citizens; and a spirit of co-operation in place of quarreling, or negligence, on the part of the masses of the people. Teaching citizenship is one of the many duties of the public schools of America. Kingfisher High School strives at all times to fulfill its obligation to its community by turning out the best citizens possible. MR. They started the season by dropping their opener to Bethany 12-0. Then they took on the El Reno Club and were beaten by the score of 45-0. Things turned toward the better as they tied the Cordell Eleven 13-13. This being a conference game, the Yellowjackets Won or, penetrations. Then Carnegie came to the Yellowjackets’ field and were beaten 33-7. After this they went to Crescent and lost in a very close 7-0 ballgame. Next came the homecoming game with Yukon. During the half-time Mary Lyle Dulany was crowned Football Queen by Captain Don Langley. The game ended Yukon 19, Kingfisher 14. Things were looking bad until the Hinton game when the Jackets won by the score of 19- 6. In the game with Watonga spirits were high, and for the third time in three years, the Jackets won. This time by a score of 20- 18. In the Weatherford game the score was Weatherford 40, Kingfisher 13. This ended the regular season, but Okeene came over to return a game, and the season ended with Kingfisher 25, Okeene 7.
