School Calendar Week of September 1 Sept 1 Labor Day Sept 2 Teachers Meeting at Phillips Sept 3 First day of school We have the same teachers that we had last year Mr Wood principal Mr Lush and Mrs Chadbourne We ran through all classes in the morning and books were passed out We started regular classes In the afternoon The Juniors and the Seniors had class meet ings Seniors started plans for the fair booth We have to move the booth back a little and we want to add seats Week of September 8 Se t 8 Farst full week of school first in KHS today as Mr Lush held a meeting and class of the first Driver Training class We dont know yet lust how many or who will be in it Our books will be here immediately and the car a brand new Plymouth furnished by Knapp Bros wrll be here as soon as the new cars are put on the market for sale Sept 9 Band members brought their Instruments for their first practice thas year with Mr Flagg of Strong Freshmen and Sophomores held their first class meetings Sophomores start work on Freshman lnntra tion The teachers from both schools met with Mr and Mrs Wood at Woodhaven for a cook out lunch and an evening spent in talking and seeing slides shown by Mr Spooner Davis S pt 11 Thursday and first meeting of Girls Chorus with Mrs Wing Mrs Lander will help her at the piano Sept 12 We had our first movie this year during activity period The boys had a baseball practice We understand that they are going to play Central High during the morning of New Portland Farr day Week of September 15 Sept 15 First meal at Hot Lunch Pro gram Mrs Tufts and Mrs Pushard are the cooks We hope the program is well pat ronized and that it is a success Sept 16 Tuesday and a meeting of band members with Mr Flagg Sept 17 Farmington Farr today Once more as sometimes an the past we had one session today Sept 18 Mr Jackson was here from Jackson Studios to see about doing senior pictures PAGE TWENTY Sept 19 Senior playbooks arrive The Seniors chose a three act comedy Here Comes Charlie Set 20 81 21 The Seniors run the North New Portland Farr Booth for two days Mrs Chadbourne helped us a lot with the cooking as did several of the Seniors mothers We did very well mak mg S177 97 On Saturday forenoon the baseball boys played Central Hugh Mer ton Meldrum pitched a very good game as we won 15 1 Week of September 22 Sept 22 Juniors have a class meeting to make plans to cater at the auction Oct 11 at the home of the late Mrs Caswell Se t 23 Band Sensors are still re turning dishes and property from the fair Sept 25 The Seniors met with Mrs Chadbourne and read and cast their play thus evening There are ten speaking parts Tonight the band played for a while front of Webster Hall Af er that t marched for the first time Sept 26 A movie on danryung was l'own during actlvlty period Week of September 29 Sept 30 Freshman Initiation was to night Sophomores benefited from a record hop afterward O t 1 One session of school because of State Teachers Convention at Bangor Tomorrow and Friday off too Week of October 6 Oct 6 What a short vacation' There was a meeting of The Sk: Left staff the office during activity period Some of them couldnt make it because they meet every activity period with Mr Lush for driver education class O 8 Band Cross country oys under the supervision of Mr Poulnn had a triangular meet at Rangeley with Rangeley and Strong Eight boys are running Glad to see interest in this sport Senior play rehearsal and band practice this evening Well have play rehearsal every Tuesday and Thursday evening from now on Oct 8 A Navy Recruiting Officer spoke with the senior boys Oct 9 Both band practice and play rehearsal thus evening s T 1 if I , . . . , . , 1 . 1 . . .
