Editorials Nation in Washington, D. C. After the various speakers had finished, we could ask them questions. Another interesting feature was the bus trip to Augusta. Here the Girls State Goxernor along with all the other of frcers was sworn into office We all visited the Blaine Mansion and shook hands with Mrs Cross and then had tea At Grrls State I met many interest mg people besides having the chance to actually participate rn the various governmental affairs I again would like to thank the American Legion Auxiliary which sponsors Girls State and Carra bassett Rebekah Lodge for making rt possible for me to attend the 1954 ses sion It is certainly a great opportunity and one I shall always remember Methel Atwood 55 OUR SCOREBOARD Early last fall our Student Council voted to purchase and have installed in Webster Hall an electric time clock and scoreboard This was to be financed en trrely by the Student Council funds It arrived and was installed in time for our first home game We used rt for all home games rncludrng the ones that the J V s played We are very proud of our scoreboard and we feel that rt makes the game more interesting to the specta tors as well as being helpful to the coaches and teams playing Richard Lovejoy 56 AMERICA America rs the place people used it rn order to hare freedom of relrgron of speech of the press or any other freedom that human beings have always wanted Columbus stumbled upon the new world in 1492. turning into reality the dreams that people in the old world had formerly thought impossible to real rze t The Pilgrims later came, and, by mistake or by God's will, landed on Plymouth Rock to form the first perma- nent colony in New England.
