Week of February Z1 February Z3---The boys' basketball team went to Lewiston to participate in the Western Maine Small School Tournament, They were winners in their first game by one point, Mr, Clunie chartered a bus for the students who wanted to attend, February 25---Boys played again and won, February Z6---Saturday, The boys were called back for a final try at winning the title of Champions of Small Schools in Western Maine, They brought back the title and the cup, Week of February Z8 March Z---All juniors, Seniors and teachers attended Career Day which was held at Farmington High School, We all enjoyed the day, March 4---Mr, Clunie announced the speaking parts for the Senior Class, They are as follows: Richard McLaughlin, Valedictorian, Wanda Bradbury, Salutatoriang Ray Hinkley, Honor Essay, Faye Hewey, Class History, Arlene Niles, Class Will, Lillian Nile, Class Prophecyg Roscoe Durrell, Class Trip, Elizabeth Packard, Gifts to Boys 3 Eugene Wing, Gifts to Girls, March 5---Saturday, again, The boys lost a hard gaxne to Schenck High School of Millenocket and, also, their chance to be champs of all the small schools in the state of Maine, Week of March 7 March 9---Movie for Senior Benefit, Thank you, Mr, Lade, March 11---The All-Star game of the Franklin County Small School League was played at Phillips tonight, The Kingfield girls lost to the All Star girls, but the boys won, Both games were exciting from start to finish, Both teams brought home the cups for being champs in the league, March 12---Luce's Studio sent a photographer today to take some pic- tures of the boys' and girls' basketball teams with their trophies, Week of March 14 March 16-- -An agent from Luce's Studio talked with the Juniors today about their graduation pictures for next year, March 18---A banquet to honor the boys and girls playing on the basket- ball teams was given by the American Legion and Auxiliary, After the dinner Mr, Charles Wilson showed slides of Kingfield scenes and people, We enjoyed them very much, March 23---All juniors and nearly all Seniors went to Augusta, today to attend a session at the State Legislature, March Z4---Ken McKensie show in town, benefit of Seniors, April 1---Sophomores held a Social in Webster Hall, April 8---Senior Play, The Funny Brats , April 14---Concert under the direction of Mr, Dann, given by grades and High School Music Chorus, April 15 ---Freshman Social, Vacation begins, April ---Local Talent Show, No definite date has yet been set, Seniors leave for Washington Friday April 22, We all hope they have a pleasant trip, May Z 5 May june june june 1 7 - - ---County Convention at Farmington, No school, 30---Memorial Day, 12 -- -Baccalaureate, 16 - - -C ommencement, -School closes, bringing to an end the school year 1948-49, Lillian Nile '49 ZZ

january 13---We chose Margaret Niemi as our candidate for Queen at the Farmington Winter Carnival, Although she was not selected Queen, all of us were proud of her, She made a very pretty attendant, january 14---Another victory for the boys, This time it was over Mexico, The girls lost by a rather close score, Week of Ianuary 17 january 17---We started choosing the staff of The Abram Breeze, There's two we don't have to choose, john Winter automatically becomes Editor-in-Chief Richard McLaughlin becomes Business Manager, January 18---Today we finished choosing the staff, We played New Sharon on our floor tonight, The boys won 98 to 55, The girls, also, were victorious, The Freshmen sold refreshments, january 19---Oh, this terrible weather: Because of it the Vantine Studio couldn't get here to take the group pictures, Another day of exams, January 20---Exams finished once more, january 21---Our second games with Strong, Again we were the victors in both games, Week of Ianuary Z4 january Z 5 - - - our game tonight, Oh, well: january Z 6 - - What's the matter ? We just barely made it to Stratton for We won both games anyway, -Rank cards out, I hope we have improved, The staff of The Abram Breeze agreed to have the books published in Missouri, Mister Green was here today to talk to the Seniors about the class trip, January Z8---Our second game with Phillips and again we were victorious in both games, This is our last home game, The Seniors made quite a profit selling hotdogs and drinks, Arlene Niles, secretary of the Seniors, sent for the play books The Funny Brats , Week of lanuary 31 February Z---Dean Vose, Naida Loucks, David Winter and Eugene Wing went to Farmington after Advertisements for the year book, February 3---Both teams went to New Sharon tonight, Both won, February 4---The juniors and Seniors had another joyful hour with Mr, Dann for Appreciation of Music, Week of February 7 February 7---We held a Student Council meeting to discuss tickets and games for the Franklin County Tournament, February 8---We went to North Anson tonight, The girls lostg boys won by one point, February 9---After school the Seniors had the tryouts for the play, February 10---We played Rangeley up there, Both games were close, The girls won and the boys lost 37 to 38, February ll---We had a rally this afternoon to show the boys that we will be pulling for them in the tournament at Farmington, tomorrow, February 12---The tournament at last, Kingfield lost to Rangeley, but only by three points, Week of February 14 February 15---A photographer from the Warren Kay Vantine Studio took the group pictures for the yearbook, , February 18---Only one session today, The tournament at Farmington in the afternoon and evening, A week's vacation, February 19---The boys beat both Stratton and Strong, thereby winning the consolation cup, We think they have done well, Although it has not yet been presented they have, also, won the cup for being champions of the Franklin County Small Schools League, That goes double because our girls are girl champions in the same league.
