KNIGHTS IN SOPHOMORE SEASCN The Knightsopened the season with a 20-0 loss to Lancaster on September 4. The game was only experimental and it brought out the Knight's strong points and its weak points. Defense was the key in the New Kent game. Holding the district power to a scoreless half, the district power, came back on the Knight's strong defense to tally a 27-0 win. The West Point game saw King William's first touchdown of the season and a heart-break- ing second half. It was a good game all the way, but the defensive minded Knights lost 7-6. Homecoming Day produced King Wil1iam's first victory of their football career with a 12-6 win over the York Academy Confederates. The Football Knights continued their win- ning ways the following Saturday for their final game of the season. The Colonial Beach Drift- ers were the victims ofa 47-0 scoring spree. David Townsend, co-captain, is the first player ever to receive an all-district selection for football. He played offensive end and was the leader of the Knights defensive unit. BREAK LOSING STREAK
