In the next game, the Kingsmen returned to the home gridiron. where they remained undefeated throughout the season. to hattle the Dayeroft Six. Behind the clear proof of assurance of victory and friendliness toward the Dayeroft players. was a hunger for reyenge of the defeat suffered from Dayeroft last year. 'lihe opening kickoff was fumbled hy Dayeroft on the two yard line and was re- covered hy Gordon Daney. Un the next play Clark Yarnum slanted over for the score. ln the second quarter Fred Willis elimaxed a 55 yard drixe with a 25 yard end run. Daycroft tallied once in the second quarter, leaving the score at half- time 13-6. After receiving the kickoff to open the second half. King tallied as Fred Willis slammed up the middle from 35 yards out. Two minutes later Clark Yarnum returned a punt 40 yards to paydirt. As the third quarter came to its end. Willis scored his third touchdown on a 23 yard pitehout play. increasing the King lead to 33-0. llaying two sensational TD runs hy Willis and Yarnum nullified hy clipping penalties. the liingsmen scored only once more, a 50 yard pass play from Willis to Stanley llothenherg. 'lihis undomitahle offense along with stalwart defensive play secured for King its third win in the league as it trouneed Dayeroft 39-6. The Kingsmen wound up the season with a home game against Cherry Lawn. The Kingsmen received. and marched 55 yards to score the initial touchdown, the tally being registered on a 20 yard play from Colegrove to W illis. A short time later. Vlifflulll returned a punt 60 yards. increasing the lead to 13-0. Late in the first quarter Willis hurst up the middle 40 yards and the third King TD. He also dropkieked the extra point. Next, a ten yard jaunt hy Willis. after a Lawner score. accounted for the fourth King touchdown. With seconds remaining in the half, Yamum blasted up the middle, cut to the sidelines. and dashed into the end zone. making it 34-8 at halftime. With Coach Ulson rotating his suh- stitutes freely in the second half. the Maroon and White were held to one final score. It came when Yarnum arched a pass to Willis. who dodging tacklers. fought his way to his fourth touchdown of the game. Wiith Fred Willis. Clark Yarnum, Ahhot Schwehel, and Gordon Daney, all playing their last foothall game for King. spearheading the attack. the Colonial Roaders climaxed a successful 4-1 season with a 40-8 victory over Cherry Lawn.

Nevertheless, the Kingsmen's tremendous five- touchdown lead held as they easily defeated Roosevelt 38-25. For their second contest, the Kingsmen traveled to Cedar Knolls to clash with the defending champions of the league for the past three years. Neither team could score early in the game as both squads exchanged a pair of punts. The battle of defenses continued until the end of the second quarter when a 25 yard aerial from Fred Willis to Kevin Foster broke the deadlock 7-0. After the kickoff, Clark Varnum intercepted a vain Cedar Knoll pass and on the next play he tossed a 30 yard pass to Willis in the end zone, making it 13-0 at half- time. ln the third quarter the Maroon and White displayed a sharp running and passing game coupled with outstanding defensive play by Clark Vamum, Fred Willis, and Abbot Sehwebel. King kicked off to open the second half and forced the Blue and Cold to punt after three losses. Colegrove returned the punt to the Cedar Knoll 30, from where Willis smashed through the left side and raced across the goal line. The Kingsmeifs final TD came on a 60 yard pass play from Yvillis to Abbot Sehwebel. XX hen the game ended thc score was 20-12 in favor of King. However, this victory was particularly impressive as it was the first setback for Cedar Knolls in the last 17 games. With the leadership of the league lying in the decision of the next game, the Colonial Roaders battled Hamden Hall on the road. King kicked off and the Hamden Six moved 60 yards in 8 plays to take the lead 6-0. Un the next kickoff, the King team fumbled, and Hamden took over deep in King territory, scoring shortly later. The second quarter was much of the same story. Loose play by the King baekfield resulted from the hard-charging Hamden line, and the score was 26-0 at the end of the half. ln the third quarter Fred Willis scored twice on runs of 50 and 30 yards. After an exchange of punts the Green and Cold scored on a series of short pass plays. Nlinutes later, Clark Varnum ripped 20 yards up the middle. closing the gap to 33-20. However, still using passes to their advantage, Hamden scored again, leaving the score a hopeless -IU-20.
