CLASS HISTORY In September 1982, the class of 1987 started their four year voyage through High School. We started the year off with pizzaz under the leadership of Michelle McLaughlin-President, Sarah Doyle-Vice President, Erin Kelly-Secretary and Lisa Kuta-Treasurer. With the guidance of our class advisor, Miss Southworth, we took our first step toward success. To increase our humble treasury, we sold candy and sponsored our first dance. The first glimpse at our Class Spirit could be seen in our Homecoming float. Our Slogan was Sharon's Eagles are due for ex-STlNKtion. Although we didn't win the float competition, we were proud of our class and the football team, who held its ovm against the Sharon Eagles with a tie score. On March 550, 1985, the Freshman-Sophomore Semi-Formal was held at The Coachman's Lodge in Bellingham. The theme was Dance the Night Away. ln spite of the loss of electricity in many homes, due to an unexpected blizzard, Jen Pomfret and Pam Fisher were able to capture the title of freshman princesses. As our freshman year came to a close, we breathed a sigh of relief and looked toward the future with optimistic ideas. We retumed as sophomores one year older and one year wiser. Sarah Doyle, our new president, led the class assisted by Lisa Kuta-Vice President, Erin Kelly-Secretary and Keelan Muir-Treasurer. Once again Miss Southworth, our faithful advisor, was kept busy by our spirited class. We increased our growing treasury with a canister sale, camation sale and a Christmas dance with Jason Stockwell as Santa. All proved successful. ln Jean Stockwell's garage, we built our second Homecoming float. Our Slogan was K, P. scores high against N. A.'s space invaders. Although our float did not win, we showed our class spirit and enthusiasm by winning both the Spirit Week trophy and the Loudest Class trophy at the Pep Rally. We were well on our way to being the greatest!!! The Freshman-Sophomore Semi-Formal, held at Lakeview in Foxboro on March 50, 1984, was a success. Entertainment was provided by a live rock group. The Sophomores were beautifully represented by Karen Carlow as Queen, and Keelan Muir and Nancy DeBraie as Princesses. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The Class of 1987 was half way to graduation, with the best yet to come! Sara Doyle-President, Lisa Kuta-Vice President, Yvette Perron-Treasurer and Secretaries Audra Ayotte and Scott Mc Eachem led the class for our Junior Year. Miss Southworth was joined by Mrs. Lepere as our class advisor. They were behind us all the way with guidance and words of wisdom. Jason Stockwell's garage was again the center of activity for the construction of our homecoming float. This year's slogan, King Philip reigns over Oliver Ames, and our class spirit helped us win the float competition along with the Spirit Week and Pep Rally trophies. Dances, a camation sale and a magazine sale increased our abundant treasury. The Junior-Senior Prom was on May 16, 1986 at The Royal Plaza Hotel in Marlboro. Our Junior Princesses were Kathy Kuza and Michelle Sewell. We had established ourselves as one of the most spirited classes ever to walk the halls of King Philip. The Class of 1987 entered their Senior year with high hopes and Sarah Doyle-President, Lisa Kuta-Vice President, Audra Ayotte-Secretary and Jason Stockwell-Treasurer were there to fulfill them. Miss Southworth and Mrs. Lepere were again our advisors and helped us through our busy Senior year. Together they played a large part in making our last year the best. Ute Reiter, an exchange student from Germany, joined our super class of 1987. Our senior spirit overcame all obstacles when we won the Spirit week trophy for the third year in a row and built the only, and our best ever, homecoming float. At half-time our float's motto Senior Spirit swats the Homets was pa- raded around the field. Our warriors succeded in swatting the Homets that rainy night. The Homecoming Queen Kathy Kuza and court, Jen Pomfret and Marla Rovendro, cheered on our winning warriors under umbrellas and the shelter of John Arsenault's van. Not even pouring rain could dampen the Class of 1987's Senior Spirit. On November 20, 1986 our class sponsored a dance with Bob and Zip from WAAF as DJ 's to eam money for our Se- nior Year Activities. A cookie sale in November and a camation sale added to our treasury. Our Senior Supper was enjoyed by all. To end our year with good memories we had our Junior-Senior Prom at the Sheraton in Mansfield. On May 31, 1987 we received our diplomas. As we each go our separate ways we take with us memories that will bond us together forever and remind us of good friends, class spirit and enthusiasm that will help us make the im- possible a reality.
