State, national recognition continue: Beginning in late September with a trip to the University of Houston, NFL members spent two weekends a month traveling to Wichita Falls, Dallas, Waco, Houston, or Austin for competition. Seniors journeyed to Bandera in October to host a sfjcech, drama, and debate workshop in what turned out to be more of a pleasure trip, and the debate team of Landy Curry and Harold Gold flew to Pitts- burgh, Pennsylvania, over the winter holidays for a debate tourney there. Even before first semester finals were over, NFL ' ers were leaving for Dallas, and amidst attending tourna- ments, were busy preparing to host one Feb. 23-24. Having had one of the best in 1971-72, this year ' s was labeled a qualifier for the state Tournament of Champions, one of only ten in the state. At mid-season, the King squad had qualified several people: Melinda Smith, Harry Davis, and Mark Zeld- man in extemporaneous speaking, Harry in original oration, John Hut- chison-Brent Somers and Landy Curry-Harold Gold in cross-examina- tion debate, and Allen Stone in dra- matic interpretation. 78 organi2acions

You ' re a Good Man, Charlie Brown was the first production of the year with A Cloud of Witnesses taking stage in the planetarium in February.
