German Club members to work in Germany The main purpose of the German Club this year was to promote knowl- edge of the German culture and lan- guage in a typical Dutch environ- ment. The members were required to speak German in class and at all Ger- man Club meetings. Activities during the first semester were centered around soccer and mon- eymaking projects, with a scheduled trip to New Braunfels in late October for a Wurstfehst. Members were really anticipating this trip because free sausage would be served. Second semester, they also planned a visit to the German Department at the Uni- versity of Texas, and a visit to a Ger- nian play. Chuck Johnson, president, and Ronnie McGee planned to spend the upcoming summer working in Ger- many. They applied to German offi- cials and were eligible since they had a good knowledge of the language and were willing to spend two months working in the country. Assisting Chuck as president were Rachel Alexander, vice-president, Bar- bara Noakes, secretary, and Jim Hil- lin, treas urer. 1- German Club members are: Front row: Chuck Johnson, president; Rachel Alexander, vice-president; Frau Helen Nowicki, sponsor; Cindy Hewitt, Scott Stevcr, Cheryl Hicks; Sec- ond row: David Meadows, Dale Conner, Tommy Lewis, Darlene Stillwell, Terry Chase, Frank Ziegler, Ron McGee. 2.
