New director, performance in Astrodome 1. Performing at all pep rallies and football games, the Mustang Band, under the supervision of new director Mr. Alfred Sosa, showed their skill in their new numbers and routines. The band performed at the PTA Open House, the United Fund luncheon, and the choir ' s turkey supper, but the high-light of the year was their per- formance at the Houston-Cleveland game in the Astrodome Oct. 22. UIL marching contest and district, region, and area tryouts preceded their Christ- mas concert and party. Second semester brought commu- nity concerts at the mall and the annual Mexican supper. UIL solo and ensemble competition, band concert and sight-reading contests led way to state try-outs. A spring trip to Band- era, the music department spring con- cert, and the Buccaneer Days music festival rounded out the year ' s activi- ty -, 44 organizations
