Nixon wins in school-wide straw vote if Ik.- 1 « 1 BR 1 iLf ttKW PR! ■ - » A great deal of excitement centered around the November elections as Presidential nominee George McGovern made a whistle-stop in Corpus while campaigning for the 1972 election. The government classes held a straw vote, the results of which were in close comparison to those of the national elections. Rich- ard Nixon was re-elected President, Dolph Briscoe was elected governor, and John Tower was re-elected to the U.S. Senate. Football season came to a close in a big way with the King-Ray game. The week before the game was full of activities with Spirit Week, which was won by the juniors, drill team finishing scrapbooks for the football players, and senior girls making cakes, working on the traditional Green Machine, and decorating the football players ' houses. The end of the football season was followed closely by the first basketball game. King winning over Bay City 56-51. As Thanksgiving neared, the choir made plans for their Turkey Dinner, and 30 students from the various Spanish classes visited Mexico City during the holidays. 1. Cutting from one side of Buc Stadium to the otlier is one of the privileges enjoyed by David Brown and Sheri7 Feazell while selling football programs. 2. Senior class members dec- orate in hopes of winning Spirit Week compe- tition. 3- Harry Hamilton. Mike Morris, Dean Conwell, and David Hunt impatiently await time to dress out for the first basketball game. 4. Poll officials, Jeff Grey, James Keeling, and Tom Jones check Scott Miller off the voting registration list. 5. Senior girls run the tradi- tional Green Machine as juniors look on. 6. Decorating a football player ' s house is not as easy as it seems according to Val Johnson and Joanne Yates.

Class of ' 74 receives its rings December was the highlight of the year with the products of many a month ' s work being presented in the form of plays, athletic competition, tournaments, and parties. You ' re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, a musi- cal production put on by the Drama Department, was a great success with most of the students and many par- ents attending. National Honor Soci- ety inducted 22 new members who also participated in the annual NHS Christmas play. District basketball began with the King Mustangs win- ning over the Robstown Cottonpick- ers. All-district football players were announced with Frank Castaneda, Scott Miller, Tommy Lewis and Steve Luker being chosen from King. A Christmas Review, entitled Tic Toe Toyhouse was put on by the Royal- ettes. Senior rings came in and Sam Gainer, illustrating his magical and acrobatic abilities, visited King. Stu- dents visiting Mexico City during Thanksgiving holidays gave their sponsors a party. Young Life spon- sored a ski trip to Colorado and many King students participated.
