The basketball team made a good show in tournament play this year, starting with the Corpus Christi Tourney. The Mustangs chalked up two impressive victories over Kingsville and S.A. Burbank, but lost a close one to Springwoods. Denis Stanka was chosen to All-Tournament Team. The next week the team went to Houston for the annual Clear Creek Tourney. The Mustangs won the first game against MacArthur, but lost the next two. The Brownsville Tourney was next and proved to be most successful. The team won their first two games, beating Pharr and Brownsville easily. The final game was played against Miller and the Mustangs lost, giving them second place. Denis Stanka and Harry Hamilton were chosen to the All-Tourney Team.
