Orchestra plays in festival at Del Mar The Richard King High School Or- chestra got together this year to make beautiful music They practiced all year long for the American String Teachers ' Association festival at Del Mar in April, and for the UIL competi- tion In May. They performed at a Christmas program with some mem- bers of the band, and plan to use their profits from that to finance a trip to Garner State Park in May Susan Wil- liams, president, was a member of the all-state orchestra. Karen Lewis, and Debra Rowe Starting the year out with a car wash and a turkey supper at Thanks- giving, the King choirs worked to make this year one of their most suc- cessful. Irma Tullos, Chen Frederick, Paula Bartee, Becky Roe, Karen Lewis, Debra Rowe, Don Tilley, Kirk Busby, James Mabry, Daryl Nycum and Richard Webb won places on the Regional Choir, Becky Roe and Irma Tullos were selected from the King choir for all-state choir in later compe- tition. With a candy sale in January, to end their money-making projects, choir members began preparing se- lections for UIL Solo and Ensemble and UIL Choir Contests and Sight Reading contests, both scheduled for March. The Buccaneer Music Festival in May ended their year. 104 organizations
