The Big Step The 1985-86 sophomore class made the “big step” with great leaps and bounds. They entered their new school excitedly, proving they possessed a great deal of school spirit. Taking a big step can be very dif- ficult. You can easily fall and have to start over from the bottom. This, however, was not to be for the sophomore class. Sophomores took each passing day one step at a time accomplishing many of their goals and adjusting successfully to their new environment. They succeeded in fitting in with the rest of the student body, making it seem as if they had always attended King High School. Most sophomores found their new school challenging with something in- teresting and exciting to learn everyday. A wider variety of classes, teachers, and classmates allowed them to experience many things not available to them in Junior High. Sophomores also found that they enjoyed participating in the many extra-curricular activities that King had to offer such as joining various clubs, atten- ding dances, and lending their school spirit to football games and other sports events. Though a few unexpected setbacks oc- curred, such as the closing of campus and the increased number of graduation requirements, the sophomore class over- came all obstacles, setting a direct course for success in both the near and distant future.
