CLASS PROPHECY Year 1980 Place Senior Classroom, King High School Occasion 25th Annual Reunion of Class of 1955 Guests Announced As Enter The first of the alumni to arrive is Mr. James McCoy Lawson, with his wife and eight lovely children. Mr. Law- son is now the Manager of the Dy-dee Supply Company Extension Branch in Dalton, N. C. It is said that he is his own best customer. Mrs. Jacqueline B. Horton, wife of the Vienna Sausage Millionaire of Bombay, lndia, has lust entered. Miss La Rue Lankford, first grade teacher here at the school for the last 20 years. Dotty Lou Whitman, private nurse to Lieut. Gen. Harry H. Hartnip as he travels through Europe. Mr. Wallace Turner, Birdeye, the enterprising undertaker, a real gift to mankind. Mrs. Norma East, with husband and 5 grandchildren, now owns Eagle Hotel in King. Mrs. Gaynell T. Cowpoke, now with husband owns Circle Z Ranch in Arizona--5,999 acres, 17,419 head of cattle. Mrs. Faye N. Monroe, famous Broadway Torch singer, now playing the Starch Club. Joe Boleiack, of Butterfingers Boleiack's Honest Used Car Lot. Mr. and Mrs. William Gray Harris, and three lovely redheaded kids. Mr. Harris is now Undersecretary to Under- secretary of Labor of Southern Rhodesia. Mrs. Edna S. Ruffner, Cashier in Seashore Shrimp Shop of Atlantic, N. J. Mrs. Frances W. Kaltenborough, nurse at Morganton State Hospital, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Hartgrove and 5 children. Mr. Hartgrove is now a Wholesale Dealer in toothpaste in Birm- ingham, Ala. Mr. Hayes Barr, Manufacturer of high-heeled shoes for short-legged men. Mr. and Mrs. Don Robertson. After graduation from N. C. State, Mr. Robertson opened Robertson Clinic for short-winded Chimpanzees. Mr. Otis James, Manager of the Automatic Safety Pin Company. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Belcher. Mr. Belcher now draws pictures for children's Fairy Story books. He gets his ideas from his own 4 children, aged 8 months to 5 years. Smitty Smith: now Hotlips Harrigan, the famous motion picture idol, with 168 teen-age fan clubs all over the Continent of Europe and America. Latest Picture: Unconquered. Mrs. Betty Lou C. Armstrong, wife of the heir of Armstrong Cork Co. Three little freckle-faced Armstrongs are hanging on to her coat tail. Miss Norma Hunter, the famous Parisan model for women's apparel. Mrs. Estelle Covington Nash, works in husband's Nash Pet Shoppe which specializes in French Poodles - M clipped. Mary Sue Tuttle: Madame Xera, fortuneteller in Chicago. Her career began as an Airline Hostess with the Trans- Orient Airlines Company flying from the Phillippines to Moscow everyday. He has a habit of throwing roses tothe ladies in the audience before each. tight. On his nights off he takes his wife and fourteen kids to one of his Rose- bud Drive-lnn's to see the pictures of his fights. Still drives that old Gray Battleship. Well, everybody's here now - you know it doesn't seem like they were once all together in school- but we'll have to believe the records, Huh? i

CLASS HISTORY The fall of T951 marked a new Era for 52 excited freshmen, who entered High School with superior feelings. The boys and girls were separated. Mr. Lindler and Mrs. Patterson were the room teachers. Presi- dent of the boys' class was William Harris. President of the girls' class was Oleta Barnes. Odis James, Francis Westmoreland, William Harris and Patsy Moore were the Student Council Representatives. Our Grade Parents were Mrs. Mack Westmoreland and Mrs. Jack Bennett. Odis James and Mary Sue Tuttle were active in public speaking. Odis won the Stokes County Dec- clamation Medal, and Mary Sue won the School Recitation Honor. Mary Edith Smith carried beauty honors by being elected Maid of Honor of the May Court. Forty-four Sophomores returned in the fall of '52 to try High School another year. Faye Bennett, a new pupil, was welcomed to our class. Mr. Neal and Mrs. Shore were the home room teachers. The two Presi- dents of the classes were Don Robertson and Mary Sue'Tuttle. Student Council Representatives were Odis James, Oleta Barnes, Mary Sue Tuttle and Jacqueline Bennett. This year Odis James was winner of the World Peace Speaking Contest in the school and District. When we became Juniors, we were really feeling our importance. Many dropped out of school during their Junior year. We were glad to welcome A. G. Belcher as a new member of our class. At the first of the year, we began working on the Halloween Carnival. Our advisors were Mr. Lindler and Mrs. Hanes. Don Robertson was President of the class. Helping him were Joseph Fulk, Vice-President, Jacqueline Bennett, Secretary, and Rose Baker, Treasurer. We were proud that our class made the most money that had been made on the carnival. Representing us on the Student Council were Mary Sue Tuttle, William Harris, and Amaiean Boyles. Odis James served as Vice-President of the Council this year. A good time was enioyed by all who went to the Ice Capades in Raleigh. The Junior and Senior Banquet was the High-light of the year. Everyone had a swell time at the Y.M.C. A. in Elkin where the Banquet was held. i The Marshals for Commencement were Oleta Barnes, Chief, Joseph Fulk, Patsy Moore, Mary Sue Tuttle and Odis James. All of us were proud of Mary Edith Smith, who made the all Northwest basketball team. Oleta Barnes and Mary Sue Tuttle were representatives to Girls' State. Our Boys' State Representa- tives were Don Robertson and William Harris. Thirty-four Seniors returned in the fall of '54 to have as our home room teacher a man to whom we are deeply grateful, Mr. T. H. Johnson. Norma East returned after being out of school a year. Also, we were glad to have Clarence Hall back with us taking a Post Graduate course. Our Class Officers are President, Don Robertson, Vice-President, Joseph Fulk, Secretary, Smitty Smith, Corresponding Secretary, Pat Moore, and Treasurer, Rose Baker. Mary Sue Tuttle was elected Vice-President of the Stokes County Student Council and was Corre- sponding Secretary of the K.H.S. Student Council. Odis James undertook the iob as President of the K.H.S. Student Council. On December 'l, we presented a three-act comedy, The Nervous Wreck. A lot of laughs and thrills were in store for all who came. At this time we Seniors of '55 are found with one aim in mind, that of receiving our diplomas. Then we hope to take a firm stand in the world. ODIS JAMES
