The year was a very successful one for the girls. They played eighteen games during the regular season, winning all but one. Not only did they have a successful season, but they won the Stokes County Tournament for the third year in succession. In the Journal-Sentinel Tournament both teams went to the semi-finals, the girls losing to Walkerton 31-2.8, and the boys losing to Leaksville 40-32. Doris Kiser, Peggy Loggins, Betty Taylor, Minnie Frances Tedder, Betty Meadows, players, and Johnnie Slate, manager, are Seniors this year, but even though we lose them, there will be other girls to take their place next year. We cannot give the team all the credit. If it hadnot been for the training that their coach, Mrs. Voss, gave them and her patience when they did something wrong, they would not have gone as far as they did. We have been proud of our team this year, so we say to all the girls on the team, Well done, girls. To Mrs. Voss we can say from the bottom of our hearts, You deserve the best of everything. 19

L F1 ATOAULSO --u LL, H. Y ROW- n' SECOND RO . lghtf Harris 'Nea1,c W' Watt . ' Newsom oach, Hunsuckelxijlairnlth, Brown, rilltfilolder, Hartgrov agerJNanCe. Kise E Moore, THIRE I Ogfl gl JLQKAUK OUR TEAM IS ON THE BEAM!! How wonderful to hear that yell! Our boys' basketball team, under the capable coaching of Odell T. Neal, won 15 games and lost 3 during regular season play. Teamwork and sportsmanship have been very outstandingly displayed by every boy on the team. The teamwill lose to Ole Man Graduation five Seniors. They are Wesley Brown, Arnold Moore, James Smith, Aaron Holder, and Johnny Newsome. However, the rising Junior Class, from all appearances, contains enough material for two good teams. Nevertheless, Aaron Lefty Ho1der's hook shot and Johnny Newsome's defensive methods will be conspicuous by their absence. Our boys were crowned Stokes County champions after winning from a smart Germanton five. The Journal-Sentinel Tournament was an interesting one. Our bbys played their way into the semi-finals, losing to Leaksville, who won the Tournament. Mr. Neal is to be congratulated on the fine basketball team which we, the fans, have so thoroughly enjoyed seeing play this year. To the team we say, For winning the games we are proud, but your sportsmanship won the crowd. '
