Actually, both the training and the equipment checks started long before the cruise began. But they contin- ued to be a constant part of the daily life in Weapons, in order that the fighting capability of the ship would be ready at any time, against any type of threat from submarine to high-speed aircraft. When not busy on the stack , the sonarmen were usually to be found giving the ASROC gunners a hand wrestling with the Trainer . Highlight of the cruise had to be the day that LT.
