HINE Executive Officer Lieutenant Commander HINE, born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, served inthe Navy for two years as an Aviation Electronics- man after which time he received a Sec- retary of Navy appointment to the Naval Academy, where he was commissioned an Ensign upon graduation in 1955. As a junior officer, he served in all Gun- nery billets on the USS DORTCH QDD-6703. On his next two ships. USS GYATT QDDG-15 and USS GALVESTONMCLG-33, which he placed in commission, LCDR HINE served as ASW Officer and Missile Launching and Handling Officer respectively. He next spent two years at Naval Post-Graduate School, Monterey, California enrolled in the curriculum of Ordnance Engineering. Upon graduation he was aS- signed to the USS LITTLE ROCK QCLG-43 as Missile Officer and Nuclear WeapOHS Officer. In 1963, LCDR HINE went to the U.S Naval Academy where he taught courses in Systems Engineering and Automatic Con- trol Systems. He was then transferred tO the U S. Naval War College at NeWp0Ttv R I. where he attended the Command and Staff course until June of 1966, when he was then transferred to KING. 'Y I 1 1
