You started as a teacher and bus driver years ago and continued on to be our vice-prin- cipal. You have achieved with dignity the qualification of our MUSTANG dedica- tion. This is why we feel that there is not a better man than you, Mr. Fischer, to fill this honored page. 4 pu., YY, ,, Y , 'V A 'T 1 :TV ,- r -, W ,X S if , U54 'W .ww v 1 l- U ' , :J f , W -, may X 55' 192' -Q0 PL' 'V 1 f 'Q V, ,QV 1, . SENIOR HISTORY On a September morning in 1957, the class of 1961 stood with quiver- ing knees on the brink of a new adventure- -a four year quest for further education. Not knowing what to anticipate, the end ofthe second week was rounded out with an organized program ofinitiation inwhich we played the leading rolls. Under the guidance of our class advisors, Miss Douglass and Mr. Dickie, and our class officers, our class began to take shape. ln our Sophomore year, we gave the traditional Sock Hop which was enjoyed by all. We gave dances and had several concessions in order to save money for our junior year. During this year our class advisors were Mrs. Pinkham and Mr. Pitcher. Now being mighty Juniors, we started out the year by receiving our class rings. Our pride and joy was our Halloween float which took first place. With the help of our class advisors, Miss Henzler, Mr. Kleine, and Mr. Etter. we sold candy, worked on concessions and other projects, to raise money for the prom for which the theme was Japanese Tea Gardens. ln the spring we gave the junior play MR. BARRY'S ETCHINGS, the plot cen- lering around a counterfeiter. After a fun-filled summer, we returned to complete our last year of high school. ln the fall we presented the comedy-drama, MELODY JONES for our senior play production. In the spring we attended the junior-senior prom. Elizabeth Mattos was Homecoming Queen, as chosen by the Varsity football players. Our class advisors, Mrs. Redmond, Mr. Williams, and Mr Pitcher, were a big help this year. Ditch day, the Senior Banquet, Bacca- laureate, and graduation exercises were soon to be past experiences. Each member of the class of 1961 will have fond memories of the days spent at King City Joim Union High School. A 1- i - H SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS J M ley, Sec.-Treasg J. Barrient, V. Presg T. Here is asnap of Suzi, our cute foreign exchange stu- dent bundled down with books as she walks to her next class SLIZI BROCKER Suzi Brocker, our energetic, in- teresting, foreign exchange student is from Strasbourg, France. Suzi's home- town is a beautifulharbor city in north- ern France, located on the magnificant Rhine river. On interview, we found these interesting facts about Suzi. Suzi says France is a country of soft life and that lf you love life you'll love France. Suzi also told us that young people in France are very in- terested in politics and want very much to participate in their governmental af- fairs. She says too thatthe young people of France are against war and are very idealistic. Suzi's father is a Controller of Ac- countants in the Building Department, which defends the government. Her mother is a housewife as are most American women. Suzi's sister attends Strasboug's University and studies English and .. Scandinavian languages. She is the Head of the UNEF, a student organiza- tion. Suzi's entire family speaks Eng - lish. While here in America, Suzi has been living with the John Davis Family and her schoolsubjectsinclude art, pub- lic speaking, English 4, civics, senior problems and library. U? Miss Brocker's interests and future plans are art and working in political sciences. She would like to attend a schoolof fine arts when she returns to France, but she feels there isn't much future in it. When she does return to France she also plans to attend school and take a philosophy class plus ten other subjects. Ithasbeen a wonderful year having Suzi here. An interesting experience for us and for Suzi also, mainly be- cause of her vitality and interest in school and public activities. 81 BOYS' BLOCK K. C. J. Jones, Pres.,D. Strohn, V. P., R.
