Page I8 CLASS PROPHECY Let us imagine that the year is 1960 and we are going back ta our alma mater for a class reunion Upon arriving in Kimberly, I was greatly surprised to see how the business district had grown I went into the Foro Garage and found BOB MEULRMANS, the proprietor, busy at work I was again surprised to hear from him that his sister, MARY, was in Milwaukee running a private secretarial school Next to Bob's olace was BILL PHILIPSEN'S restaurant AGNRS VALDYR WIELEN is the cashier and GERRY FRASSETTO, the head waiter Sitting at one of the tables I found JOANNE LAMERS, who sings with Harry James' Orchestra, and her husband With them were the former LAVERNE KAVPS and her husband, and two children They told me that AUDREY WYENBERY was now the school secretary After leaving them, I found ALTHEA GAFFNEY at work in her dry cleaning establishment in the next block FLORENCP NUWHOUSE takes care of the bookeeping Across the street is JOAN JOHNSON'S Beauty Shoppe Through our conversation I learned that CAROL TIMNERS and IVIS SKELL are Two blocks down the street I met GENE VAN BOOGAARD and LEON HARTZHEIM who run the Kimberly Dairy As I was talking to them, BILL HOPFENSBERGER drove into the plant with one of his milk trucks Sitting along side him was BOB VAN THULL who runs a riding academy next to B1ll's farm Next, oassing the Library, I noticed PAT SWICK at work as librarian Wnterlng the Village Hall I found HARRY VAN KREY, the Fire Chief, polishing his trucks At his desk sits Police Chief, JOE RIEDEL, giving instructions to his lieutenant, KEN MASAROS entered the council room and heard DICK BUSCH, Village President, listing improvements for the village and DON LANDUA, City Clerk, copying them down The next stop was at the recently errected High School which was designed by KEN WILLIAMSON, the famous architect Down in the gym I found STEVE LEMMERS, Head Coach, working out with his boys From him I learned that RUSS TIEDEMAN is doing well as a professional basket ball player and that BOB SCHMIDT is also a big league pitcher for the Brooklyn Dogers Mrs Tiedeman, the former IRENE PEERENBOOM, travels with her husband on his trips Up in the commercial room I found the teacher, PAT 0PST'EN, busy with her pupils She told me that FRANCIS VAN HOG N teaches shorthand in a neighboring town Ae I left the commercial room I bumped into BARBARA FRASSETTO who is the G1rl's Athletic Director O U 'a O . .L T M . CLASS HISTORY 1946 marked the beginning of our high sch ol career The seventv eight members chose as their president Bill Thein The Sophomores laid out the welcome rat for us with a get accuainted a t which brought about man n w 'riends ips Februarv we we e proud to put on the Valen ine Dance wh'ch was a big success In Va we said our good byes anticipating our future as Sophomores When we eturned as Sophomores the naxes of Art Lowenhagen, Delo es Verhagen, Eugene Van Daalw ck Fart Conrad, Geraldine Douglas, Helen Vander Zanden, Bill Thein, Gre ar Jansen, Buck Van Ulzen, and Gertude Partzheim no longer answered roll call The ighlights of the vear was the Vast r dance ogect of hard work As the ar rolled on Marshall Van Hammond, Jim rrassetto, Chris Conrad, and Norman Last 1 ft us Ven Yrueser served as our capable class r esident At the end of a su ces ful wear we looked Iorward to more ex itinp events as Juniors As Juniors we prepared ourselves for big er and bette tasks longer with us were Dolores Dufrane, Bob Zwiers, Don Oud ntov n, and Marx Jane Van Pammond A new face appeared in the person of Larr :weere but he again left us in March Our first big event as Juniors was winning first priz for our homecoming float which as a huge Homecoming Cueen, Joanne Lamers, one of our class ates As the vear rolled on Lav rne Kemps, Cell Van Ro , and Dolores Van Daalwfck left The second bige vent was the Prom Pat De Leeuw and Dill Poofensperyer were co chairm n and thex did a fine job in converting the g m 'nto an underwater sea kinrdom, omolete with treasure chest and mermaids We danced to the music of Larr Woodburn and his orchestra Bob Wahlers was elect d class president and relpned as kin, of the Junior Prom Pe ckose Marx Lou Dupont as his oueen As a keepsake of our F I S favs we chose our bealtlful class rings Septenber l949 we eturned as leterr ned Seniors to make the last ear the best Janice Van Gom el and Bettv Ann VcCarthv found their farilies Alabama bound so thex were no lonrer with us We close Steve Lemmers to fill the office of class president We again copped the trophv for the winning float which was like a D cture out of a book The theme HF ather vur Nest With Victor , was suitablv portraxed with huge artistic birds puarding their elaborate ho e Bright flowers surrolnded the entire setting Tris ear of again we were proud to have member of our class, Joan Jo nson r i,n as Fomecoring cueen During the ear Corrita Van Kessel one of our classmates, decided she preferred married life to sckool work Dancing around a huge lighted tree to the rusic of Jimmv James higklighted the Christmas season As June 1 draws nearer we hear the Senlors iscussing class trip, gowns, and commencement We decmded a trip to Clica o 'a 4 and 5 would be an ide 1 educational tour Nav lO, under the direction of Piss Lowry the class plav, HJanuarv Thaw, as p esented The comedy in o acts was a tremendous success With new experience ahead of us we look back at all the good times shared in that big ed build4ng, and wish the remaining students luck and succ ss to make their forthcom'ng vears as kappa as ou s Page 17 L I A , is A , v Ev ' ' .' CLASS PROPHECY After looking over the new school I went down to the local mill In the main o fice I bumped into ELAINE NRNTING who is secretary to the mill manager I also saw ROSIE LAST and IONE DW WILDT who also occupy lmoortant positions Hearing a racket coming from one over and cautiously and glanced in to busy at her typewriter Passing through the mill I found his crew around Wanting to get in a few De Morts Golf Course There keeping the boys in line and the greens keeper with three and TO' COTNOIR o' the other rooms I walked find ANNA VANDER WIELRN foreman, JO? DIVTZEN, bossing holes of golf, I drove out to Butte was TED BOLWERK, the caddie master, on the course I met TOP VAN SAIBEIY of his crew, JIM DERKS, DICK FRIEBEL That evening the reunion was held Sitting at the table with me were MB AND MRS MARV HARTJES Mrs Hartjes is the former JEAN OLSON Along side of them were the former BONNIE CLARK and her husband At the next table sat MARY ANN WISMANS who is an actress with Columbia and PAT DV L'EUW who runs the local baby sitting service Among the other guests I found the former JOAN DOLLEVOET and her husband, BILL RIEDUL, now a professional ice skater, DON ANDERSON, a Lieutenant in the Coast Cuard, YVN KRUWGRR, the head window decorator at Macies in New York, JOHN VAN STRALoN, the High School Football Coach and WUGENE MENTINC who is a carpenter and owns his own business in a neighboring town JACK WVYENBERG, the admiral of his own ship, could not get away to come to the re union JACK DW GROOT mentioned that he was still running his fathe grocery store MR AFD MRS PIFU WAHL RS were perhaps the last of my old class mates that I met Pike was in town investigating the site of the new Kimberly Bridge to cross the river Mrs Wahlers was the former MARY LOU DUPONT After everyone had done his share of talking with his old classmates, games were played and a good time was had by all It was good to see all my old friends from school days and I was very glad I could get away to come back to the old alma mater I' 0 Y .
