CLASS HISTORY 1946 marked the beginning of our high sch ol career The seventv eight members chose as their president Bill Thein The Sophomores laid out the welcome rat for us with a get accuainted a t which brought about man n w 'riends ips Februarv we we e proud to put on the Valen ine Dance wh'ch was a big success In Va we said our good byes anticipating our future as Sophomores When we eturned as Sophomores the naxes of Art Lowenhagen, Delo es Verhagen, Eugene Van Daalw ck Fart Conrad, Geraldine Douglas, Helen Vander Zanden, Bill Thein, Gre ar Jansen, Buck Van Ulzen, and Gertude Partzheim no longer answered roll call The ighlights of the vear was the Vast r dance ogect of hard work As the ar rolled on Marshall Van Hammond, Jim rrassetto, Chris Conrad, and Norman Last 1 ft us Ven Yrueser served as our capable class r esident At the end of a su ces ful wear we looked Iorward to more ex itinp events as Juniors As Juniors we prepared ourselves for big er and bette tasks longer with us were Dolores Dufrane, Bob Zwiers, Don Oud ntov n, and Marx Jane Van Pammond A new face appeared in the person of Larr :weere but he again left us in March Our first big event as Juniors was winning first priz for our homecoming float which as a huge Homecoming Cueen, Joanne Lamers, one of our class ates As the vear rolled on Lav rne Kemps, Cell Van Ro , and Dolores Van Daalwfck left The second bige vent was the Prom Pat De Leeuw and Dill Poofensperyer were co chairm n and thex did a fine job in converting the g m 'nto an underwater sea kinrdom, omolete with treasure chest and mermaids We danced to the music of Larr Woodburn and his orchestra Bob Wahlers was elect d class president and relpned as kin, of the Junior Prom Pe ckose Marx Lou Dupont as his oueen As a keepsake of our F I S favs we chose our bealtlful class rings Septenber l949 we eturned as leterr ned Seniors to make the last ear the best Janice Van Gom el and Bettv Ann VcCarthv found their farilies Alabama bound so thex were no lonrer with us We close Steve Lemmers to fill the office of class president We again copped the trophv for the winning float which was like a D cture out of a book The theme HF ather vur Nest With Victor , was suitablv portraxed with huge artistic birds puarding their elaborate ho e Bright flowers surrolnded the entire setting Tris ear of again we were proud to have member of our class, Joan Jo nson r i,n as Fomecoring cueen During the ear Corrita Van Kessel one of our classmates, decided she preferred married life to sckool work Dancing around a huge lighted tree to the rusic of Jimmv James higklighted the Christmas season As June 1 draws nearer we hear the Senlors iscussing class trip, gowns, and commencement We decmded a trip to Clica o 'a 4 and 5 would be an ide 1 educational tour Nav lO, under the direction of Piss Lowry the class plav, HJanuarv Thaw, as p esented The comedy in o acts was a tremendous success With new experience ahead of us we look back at all the good times shared in that big ed build4ng, and wish the remaining students luck and succ ss to make their forthcom'ng vears as kappa as ou s Page 17 L I A , is A , v Ev ' ' .'
