Antonio Rocco Lester l.anin Shag, Charleston Q7 Q 4 The school year began with a bang for the sophomores. Thirteen Mt. Hebronites and two Georginians became class of these welcome additions, our class is the upper school. Georgie Carrington de- grade, and she too joined our ranks. pleased when our skit won at the Fall members. Because now the largest in cided to skip ninth We were very Frolicsg we just wish it had been as good as the teachers. Twelve of us took first prize in the costumes division as Cheaper by the Dozen. Quite a few of our class were on the hockey and basket- ball squads. Although the juniors won the interclass basketball game, we were lucky enough to beat them in the hockey game. In November, we worked on the Father-Daughter Dinner, and here we put in a vote of thanks to Mrs. Dunn for all her help. Shortly after the Christmas vacation, we had our class dance and the roller-skating party. Lester Lanin's band made a big hit with everyone at the Spring Prom. We played soft- ball and tennis, and in no time at all, finals were staring us in the face. Suddenly, the school year was all over, but we shall always remember our Sophomore year and all the new friends everyone made. JUNICR DRAMATICS A new subject added to the school this year is the junior Dramatic Club under the excellent supervision of Mrs. Dallery. It is composed ot many girls from the Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Grades. All year long, each grade has given several one-act plays and has been taught the understanding of dramatics. If not working on a play or script, many of the girls would be preparing scenes and costumes or learning stage poise. All this is to prepare the girls for later work in the Dramatic Club. BARBIE Ives U73 DRAMATIC CLUB The Dramatic Club, which has had an extremely busy year, was under the super- vision of Mrs. Dallery. At Christmas, the combined clubs of Kimberley and Montclair Academy gave the play, The Curious Sav- age, which was indeed a great success. Then in March, the club presented two one-act plays, Two Crooks and a Lady and They Ain't Done Right by Nell. At Easter, the two clubs of Kimberley and the Academy joined forces again in producing Dear Ruth. This year has been one of the most successful years since the club started. Other girls have drawn intricate in- teriors to scale, including draperies, textiles, and furniture. Wood blocks have also been carved for the purpose of printing cocktail napkins. Tifizizi' Ai mr ii wi DEBATING CLUB This year a debating club made up of members of the junior Class under the di- rection of Mrs. Dallery was added to the list of Kimberley activities. We began by learn- ing the basic techniques of debating on simple subjects. Having mastered these easi- er debates, we are now doing research for future ones on pertinent subjects, such as How Strong, Is Our Democracy? This one year of debating has taught us a few of the principles of public speaking and argu- mentation. LEAH JACOBS SEWING This year the Seventh Grade had their first year of sewing. Mrs. Heiple was our teacher. Most of us started the sewing year by making skirts except for a few girls who made jumpers. Later when the girls began finishing their skirts, they started on either waistcoats or blouses. Wfe all had great fun sewing our clothes and learning how to make things. This year the A.A.. in addition to its ordinary functions, has revised the constitution. During the Fall, the Kimberley hockey teams participated in two outside games with Dwight and Miss Gill's Schools. The varsity had an undefeated and unscored-upon season, and the junior varsity was defeated in its game with Dwight. The varsity mem- bers participated in the Northern New jersey Hockey Meet at Beard's School, and Kimberley held an out- standing record. Anne Areson, jean Brisbane, Ellen O'Donnell, and jane Redfield made the first team, while Anne Cook and Doris Ruprecht were chosen for the reserve team. Our mid-season sport was volleyball, and in the Kimber-Lee game. the Lees defeated the Kimbers. Our winter events included basketball, swimming. water ballet, and bowling. The Kimberley teams played in two outstanding games with Kent Place and Dwight and a basketball playday with Beard's and Kent Place held at Beard's School. The A.A, also held a playday consisting of bowling, swimming, and volleyball in which Kimberley and The Beard's School participated. During the spring. the sports program included softball and tennis, and May Day was again a festive occasion. The Athletic Association wishes to thank the School Chest for its aid in financing our activities, and we also wish to thank Miss Wolfe and Miss Clute for the help and leadership they have given us throughout the year.
