Through your teaching we have learned to apply the clear logic of mathematics to everyday life and to appreciate the beautiful precision of nature. We will remember you for this, for your ever kindly sense of humor, and for your bypassing the realms of books to share your own personal experiences with us. Sophomore gfdcfci When we returned to Kimberly last fall, Our library just off the back hall Had become our spacious home-room, With smiling faces it came to full bloom. New members had swelled our Sophomore Class Making it larger than the year just past. x 1 That door bell ringing's for the hail and hearty. At the Fall Frolic we won the Contest, Our skit presentation was judged the best. Fathers dined with us one Tuesday night, The season started with Gail's Halloween Party' Who ate the most? Yes, you are right! Some Sophs were picked for the December play A show known to us all as the K.A. In the gym we liked to Hip and tumble, About these gymnastics we'd never grumble. The midyears cameg we tried for good grades And we learned that any studying pays. March ushered in our awaited chance To have a lot of fun at our Spring Dance. The pole was draped in colors bright and gay As we celebrated last May Day, Field Day gave us fun with sports and races, Also sore muscles in many places. Then in the warm and sunny month of june Our seniors graduated all too soon. And as they leave us, they all must know We are a little sad to see them go. Coming back to school in the fall as freshmen, we found our number increased by four new girls to make us a class of twenty three. Everyone pitched in and had a lot of fun at the Fall Frolic, even though our modern version of Peter and the Wolf didn't win any prizes. Our hockey season was not very successful ,as we were vanquished by the eighth grade who succeeded in lowering our morale for quite a while. Most of the class were Bell Ringers and urer,' D. Driver, vice-prexidenf, D Ru precht, prexidentf j. Brixbane, :erreiary practiced every Thursday afternoon to prepare for their performances at Vespers and May Day. Our two principal electives were Glee Club and Dramatics in which we all had fun as well as learning a great deal. We managed to struggle through mid-years and soon afterwards gave a dance with Doris Ruprecht and Susan Dear acting as chairmen. Field Day was another event in which we all par- ticipated and tomorrow is our last day as freshmen. We promise you'll hear more from us next year as Sophomores. Kimberley is lots of fun, But, though we play, our work gets done. This year we entered the Upper School. And here we learned to keep the rule. Three girls joined us on the first day. At the Fall Frolic we were gay, We gave a radio program skit, And all had fun producing it. With the instruction of Mrs. Hall, We learned to hit a hockey ball. In fact we learned to hit so well, We beat the nine's as they will tell. galil. g,....1. For Vesper celebration we Sang in chorus and junior Glee. Then, after the Christmas vacation, We studied for each examination. We celebrated Spring romance By putting on an eighth grade danceg And then, with steps and music gay, We welcomed in the Queen of May, And so another year slipped by. Next year we'll come again to try Our Frcshman luck and say hello And strive for another path to follow. MARGARET OLDS fd 4 nm.. . . A few of the interesting and purposeful projects of the Student Council are the New Girl's Tea, the Fall Frolic, the Roller Skating Party, and the Spring Dance. The Chest, also part of the Coun- cil's activities, was taken over by a treasurer's committee this year. Aside from school activities, we represent the respective interests of the stu- dents and faculty and deal with various problems that arise during the year. NANCY EAVENSON unior ,Qui Croda This year every girl in the upper school joined the junior Red Cross. We also filled thirty eight boxes to send to the children overseas. Be- sides contributing money to aid the Veteran's Hos- pital, we decorated little nut cups for the holidays to cheer up wounded veterans. It was fun knitting squares for an afghan, too. Mrs. Evans has helped and advised us on all our projects. We have en- joyed working for the junior Red Cross and hope we have brought joy into the lives of some needy people. There, both the junior and Senior Glee Clubs sang some folk carols, and the ninth grade Bell Ringers made their public debut. The junior Glee Club was re-established this year as so many of the eighth and ninth graders wished to take singing as their elective. In their meetings with Miss Bauer and Miss Carpenter, they sang songs of their own choice, while their only public performance was at Vespers. After months of practicing, the Senior Glee Club presented the Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta, unior Ae Patience , in April. Bunthorne fGerry Lock- ertyj was the idol of Twenty Love-sick Maidens and a suitor of the naive milkmaid, Patience Uoan Swiftj. Patience was pursued and finally van- quished by Bunthorne's rival, Grosvenor fNela Wiesingj the love-sick maidens forgot their aes- thetic devotion and married their Dragoons, and Lady jane fSue Davisj caught the Duke fCath- erine Ungaroj to end the performance happily. As singing has been a foremost part of our school life, it is fitting that the whole school par- ticipates in a partly choral program at our gradua- tion.
