Akey Editor Frank Ewing Business Manager Frank Nash Faculty Advisor THE CONCORDIA PLAQUE AWARD With the intent to stimulate student photography the Concordia each year awards a prize for the best picture submitted by a student. This photo- graph must be taken, developed, and printed by the contestant. Many of the views in this volume are the plaque winners from previous years. This year's award goes to Bill Meyer, without whose camera this book would be dull indeed. X-Qu The friendliness, sense of humor, and willing helpfulness of Frank Nash have been responsible for his overwhelming popularity with the student body as well as the faculty. He has certainly earned the honor of the dedication through hard work, work that has been accomplished with a smile. Few of us realize all that Frank Nash has done for Kimball Union the past three years he has been here with us. The Kimball Union. our newspaper. has entertained us throughout the year. Were it not for his valuable advice in the literary and business sections of the paper. the stall would have been confused as to how to go about the duties of putting out a good school paper. Then, too, much of the success of this yearls Concordia is due to Frank Nash's work and advice. We all know that teaching English and helping in publications are strenuous tasks. but Mr. Nash has entered each job with his usual smile, and because of this we are all grateful. It has been said that English is a boring subiect. We doubt whether any student of Mr. Nashls has ever mentioned the fact. His classes have always been interesting, valuable, and humor- ous. He has always made it a practice to be helpiul in any way he could, whether it was driving a team on an athletic trip, or taking a group of boys to church on Sunday. We all feel that Mr. Nash deserves the honor given to him here - by the students of a school he has always tried to improve. Dedicated To . . . FRANK NASH Q V S ? . f., A . Es. ..g aK In Tribute . . On October l-L. Kimball llnion en- gaged Hebron Academy in football. and in the ensuing conflict one of the participants suffered a broken neck. The lad's name was Connie Russell. From that day on, even through the present day, Connie was bedridden at the Mary Hitchcock Clinic in Han- over: but he is not complaining about his injury. On the contrary. he merely looks upon it as another opponent in a contest. lie is lighting to over- come his adversities in the same per- sistent manner that he fought in athletic contests. For his courage. he is respected by all that know him. By showing that he could take the bad breaks with the good ones. he has exemplified the highest type of sportsmanship: and by his constant courage and fortitude. he has shown that he believes in a passage of an editorial from an issue of The Kim- ball Union which says: lt was indeed unfortunate that one of the participants from Hebron on the field of play should be in- jured to the extent of at broken neck. but all things dear have a bitter cost: victory in anything is, and justifiably should be, dear.
