Xi To Be Young, Gifted ond Block proves to be o crowd-pleoser os the foil ploy The play To Be Young, Gifted, and Black was the season opener for the Kimball Drama Department this year. It was a play based on the life of Lor- raine Hansberry, the talented playwright who wrote about characters universal to us all. The use of no stage props allowed the audience to make its own interpreta- tions by listening to the actors and ac- tresses performing on stage. The cast and crew worked long hours, including after school rehearsals, in order to display their best performances. Because of this extra effort, the results were outstanding. Student Director April Whitfield sum- med the entire play activities with the comment, We all gained knowledge and benefited from the experience of putting on this type of play, while having fun doing itf' S The Cast A First row: Debbie Snipes, Mae Trevino, josh Stewart, Michele Banks, Karen Bigam.
