Volleyboll teoms show their best For the third year in a row, the girls Varsity Volleyball team advanced to the playoffs. With an overall of 15-8, the Knights were runners-up in district play. Led by captain Paula Peteet, the team played well and ad- vanced tothe playoffs against Pearce. Three players were recognized as outstanding players for the year. They were: Paula Peteet lst Team All-District, Iarnetha Iackson 2nd Team All-District, and Nametrice Lam- pkin Honorable Mention. Likewise, the IV Volleyball team was runner-up in its district. Under the leadership of Captains Tiffany Stevens and Rhon- da Hamilton, the IV girls put forth their best efforts to achieve a respected second place overall. Rhonda Hamilton and Yolanda Perry, two major reasons for the girls' success, helped the team maintain its determination to finish second. Coach Whitson summed up the entire volleyball teams' year with the comment, The Varsity team should have show- ed a better performance. The team did well other than the fact we should have been first in district play. We started off to a good start and finished poorly. IV started out strong but grades hurt us in the end.
