5D JV ond Freshmen boslsetbol Junior Vorsiry The lV Basketball team had a successful year with an overall record of fifteen wins and three losses and another district title. In order to get the most out of practice for this year and in preparation for next year, the IV Knights could often be found practicing after school in one of the gyms. These practice sessions helped the IV throughout the season by allowing them to defeat two of their toughest opponents. The 1V Knights defeated Pinkston twice this year with scores of 74-72 and 78-60. They also defeated rival team Carter by scores of 65-58 and 70-62. Donnell Cherry, Bobby Hall, Gerald Wright, and john Scott were recognized by Coach Chris Dyer as outstanding players of the year. Coach Dyer gave his opinion on the team by say- ing, This team had a lot of character. They played well together and worked hard to win their district championship. hove T'cIossic seoson Freshmen The Freshman Basketball team finished second in district play. The Knights' season ended with an overall record of fourteen wins and four losses. Throughout the season, the Knights defeated many good teams. This season's wins include a victory over arch rival Carter. In pre-season play, the Knights defeated South Oak Cliff by a score of 49-47. This gave the Knights an extra push to become a better basketball team. The freshman basketball team had many good T players this year. Among those were: Mauria Crain, Samuel Moore, Roy Collier, Dennis Dabney, and Ray Shuford. These players averaged between six and twelve points per game, which is outstanding for freshman players. 3 Coach Lark was very proud of his team's efforts. The season began on a sour note with a loss to Spruce. However, through hard work and training, the Knights had a fine winning season.
