Szcalibur The students of Justin F. Kimball made history for their high school last fall by selecting the team name of Knights.', We of the yearbook staff wanted a name for the annual, that would best carry out a theme of knighthood. Ideals imbued in the realm of chivalry led us to seek a title relating to a tangible yet symbolic object. Excalibur, King Arthur's magic sword, was the answer. Excalibur was given to Arthur by the Lady of the Lake. As the story goes, Arthur had broken his sword in a duel with an enemy knight, and was saved just in time by Merlin the magician. Merlin took Arthur to a lake deep in the forest, and, as the king gazed thereon, he beheld an arm, clothed in white samite, above the surface of the lake. In the hand was a fair sword that gleamed in the rays of the setting sun. Rowing from the shore, Arthur took Excalibur, and the arm sank back into the water. With the aid of the magic sword, Arthur performed many deeds for the betterment of his kingdom. In keeping a promise, years later Arthur returned Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake.
