Beauty Pageant, spon- sored by the Reflector Staff, is one of the main highlights of the year, where the Beauties and Handsomes from each class are selected by a panel of iudges from out of town consisting of two women and one man. A 9 HOMECOMING is always an important fall activity at K.H.S. with the bonfire on Thursday and the pre- game crowning of the Queen on Fri- day. This year the bonfire was almost rained out. Ignoring the energy crisis, Kilgore students poured 60 gallons of deisel fuel on the bonfire to get it started. Among their other activities was the annual JAC literary contest. Future Farmers ot' America The Future Farmers of KHS is a continually growing organization whose aim is to develop agricul- tural leadership, citizenship and cooperation. The FFA excelled more this year than in any other year at KHS. Striving to build strong character and leadership, these work on various community and school proiects throughout the year. Their membership is open to all KHS students, and Mr. Lynn Currin and Mrs. Helen Griffin serve as sponsors. The band made many outstanding performances and rep- resented KHS very well in numerous invitational contests. The group was the only first-year stage band to place in the Brownwood contest. Girls' Contest Choir FOR THE FIRST TIME in the history of KHS, the Girls Choir won SWEEP- STAKES. This award is given only when a group makes first division in concert and sight-reading.
