SUNSHINE BOYS BEAMS ON KC A spot of sunshine lit Von Cliburn Auditorium October 6 through 10 and warmed the production of Neil Simon's The Sunshine Boys. Simon's genius for humanism and wit found a perfect outlet in his loveable characters. Al Lewis (played by Dusty Gallagher) and Willie Clark (portrayed by Milton Cabbiness). The play centers around two vaudeville partners who are brought together for one last tribute to their act of forty-three years. The rest of the cast included: Becky Maupin as Ann Silverman, Willie's niece: Karen Caig as the Registered Nurse; Barbara Stricklin as Nurse Mackintosh; Reggie Hanberry as the Patient; Shanon Clark as the Director; Tina Lee Haskins as Edie; Judy Hargrave as the Announcer; Ray Wages as the Drummer: and Lewanda Fields as the Cameraman. Elaine Killingsworth. a member of the audience, said. The Sunshine Boys makes you laugh and cry. I think the actors were very much into their parts. In fact, my mother couldn't believe that Milton Cabbiness was only twenty-one and not sixty or seventy.” Doug Hoppock. director of the shov , said. The Sunshine Boys is a play that will stay with you always. It covers the entire spectrum of emotions. I thought the production was a successful beginning for the year from both the audience and the department's standpoint. 26 Ivenu
