Assembly Presented to Initiate New Students Freshmen and transfer students were introduced to “Who’s Who on the campus during the program held Sept. 8 in Dodson Auditorium. Held each year at the lxjginningof the fall semester, the program was coordinated by Psychology 1 1 1 instructor Mrs. Twink Boss. Bill liolda, acting director of the Fine Arts Division, opened the program as he directed the Grand Chorus in the Star Spangled Banner, the Alma Mater and I Honestly Love You. Dr. Stewart McLaurin, executive vice president of the college welcomed the new students. Mrs. Boss introduced Dean M. K. Whitten who told of the newly created office of Student Services. After his talk. Dana Sneed, president of Phi Theta Kappa, presented Dean Whitten a certificate making him an honorary member of the national honor society. The membership was given in recognition of Dean Whitten’s service to the organization. Joe Webb, director of Student Activities, introduced the officers and Senators of the Student Affairs Congress and the sponsors, Mr. Jud Griffin and Mrs. Boss. The Banger Band, Bangcrettcs, Cheerleaders, members of the football and basketball teams and their directors and coaches were also introduced. The assembly ended with selections l cing played by the Banger Band. A. David Walker marches in with the Hanger Hand. B. KC Cheerleaders Candy Boguc. Dehhie Mickan, Dehhie Smith and Karen Coolidge lead the Fight Song. C. Hangcrctles parade in front of the audience. D. The Grand Chorus, directed by Hill liolda, sings the Alma Mater. E. Donna Youngblood is introduced as Hanger Hand Drum Major. F. Mrs. Twink Boss introduces Who's Who at Kilgore College. G. Nl. K. Whitten, dean of Student Services, explains the programs offered by the new office. II. The football team meniltcrs, managers and coaches art; introduced by Head Football Coach Jim Turner. 25
