KC Enrollment Continues to Grow The advent of junior colleges has substantially altered the pattern of college work for numbers of high school graduates who find the facilities accessible, economical and available on a commuting basis. NTSU Registrar John Brown compiled information showing that junior college transfer students perform as well and sometimes better than students who had attended NTSU all four years. Perhaps more revealing is the fact that a higher percentage of junior college transfers actually graduate within a four-year period than those who attend NTSU four years. This information, suspected by parents and counselors l cfore it was statistically proven may explain the continuous enrollment increase at Kilgore College when many colleges and universities throughout the nation have shown a decrease in enrollment. Dr. Randolph C. Watson, president, announced another record enrollment in credit courses at Kil- gore College for the 1976-77 fall semester. Reflecting a modest two percent increase, the enrollment according to Dr. Watson, “is still an excellent one particularly in view of enrollment decreases at similar institutions in Texas. The total head count of students taking one or more courses at the main campus in Kilgore and extensions in Longview, Daingerfield and Gilmer was 4,706 students for the fall semester. A. Lines of students filled the library during registration. B. Karen Cleary and Suzic Comer pick up computer cards from Mrs. Martha King and Mrs. Kay McKinley. C. Dr. (Carroll and Kelly Murphy complete the last phase of registration — payment of fees. D. Making a trial a schedule can ! c a very difficult procedure. E. Mrs. Barbara Rossman and Mr. Michael Earley help Brad Shaw begin registration. F. Mr. and Mrs. Don Smith work with Miss Lou Diedering in the Financial Aids Office. G. Mr. Troy Toon shows a student what is needed for her program of study. 18
