Wharton Stops Rangers in Opener, 9-6 Taking advantage of some costly Kilgore turnovers, the Wharton Pioneers dealt the Rangers a season opening defeat 9-6 on Sept. 6 in Wharton. Kilgore drew first blood via an eight-yard Arthur Tatum pass to flanker Leon Jones. Lester Bel-rose’s extra point attempt was blocked. A Mark Stone interception of a Tatum pass set up the first of three Emmett Lewis field goals. Six plays later, Lewis kicked the tying field goal. The third and winning Lewis field goal, a 24-yarder took place in the final minutes of the third quarter of the “lackluster contest. 24

Who’s Who Program Presented Sept. 10 Students in Psychology 111 were introduced to Who’s Who” on the campus when they met Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m. in Dodson Auditorium. Twink Ross, instructor, welcomed the assembly and introduced officers of the Student Affairs Congress who in turn presented the speakers and groups taking part. The program opened with the Grand Chorus, directed by Melvin Marshall, singing The Star Spangled Banner. A brief welcome was given by Dr. Randolph C. Watson, Dr. Stewart McLaurin and Dean M. K. Whitten. The Ranger Band, Rangerettes, Cheerleaders, Mr. Ranger, and the 1975 football and basketball teams and coaches were introduced.
