New Rangerettes Selected Aug. 21 They came from many towns and cities across the land, all hoping to become a member of the internationally famous Rangerettes. On August 10,150 girls reported for pretraining. After days of stretching, kicking, perfecting routines, smiling and projecting and learning rules and regulations, the big day arrived. Tryouts were held at 8:30 a.m. August 20 in Dodson Auditorium. At 1:30 p.m. the following day, 29 new Rangerettes and 24 alternates were announced to the cheers of the lucky ones and the tears of those not so fortunate. The eagerly awaited “show-off” was held Friday, August 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Masters Gym. At this time, the new Rangerettes of 1975-76 performed and the new officers were selected. 14
