18 Rangerettes perform in Houston After a successful trip to Venezuela in May, the Rangerettes added another feather to their cap when they performed Sept. 5 at the Music Hall in Houston for the national convention of Field Enterprises Corporation. An audience of 2500 representatives from Canada, Japan, Korea, European countries and the United States greeted the Rangerettes as they strutted in to the Ranger Fight Song. Included in the presentation was the high kick, two dance routines and the traditional flag routine to the music of The Battle Hymn of the Republic. They were given a standing ovation. That evening, the girls were guests of honor at the Ice Capades show in Sam Houston Coliseum. This year the Ice Capades have placed in their acts one routine which uses the famous Rangerettes as their theme. The costumes used by the skaters are copies of the copyrighted Rangerette uniform with one exception . . . the Ice Capade performers' costumes are of solid bugle beads made at the cost of $800 each. After the performance, the Ice Capade skaters were hosts for a party honoring the Kilgore Rangerettes. A A. Dr. Watson greets Clifford MacCraham, assistant choreographer. Three registration dates enable faculty to enroll 3,906 students Advance registration was held April 9 — 20 for students enrolled in the College. Some 850 students completed the five steps involved to preregister. They began with visits to their assigned counselor to plan a course of study and to receive a time assigned for registration. On the day assigned, each student picked up a permit to register in the Office of the Registrar. From there, they picked up their course of study and prepared a schedule in LA 116. The next step was the Library for yearbook and identification pictures. Then they returned to the Office of the Registrar for schedule approval and to turn in each form. Early registration for new students ran from July 24 to August 10. New students had two more steps to follow. They paid their fees and then reported to the Student Service Center to get their ID cards. Regular registration was August 28 — 30. After it was all over, 3,906 students were enrolled in classes during the day, at night and in extension courses held for the first time in Daingerfield, Lone Star, Longview, Marshall, Ml. Pleasant and Pittsburg. E. 17
