On February 24, 1953 the sub-district tourna- ment was held at Wells. In the first game of the evening the'Bulldogs defeated Delavan in an overtime period 59-54 while Frost won over Bricelyn. The championship game was played the following night with Kiester emerging as champs by a score of 65-57. This marked the first time in the school s history that the cagers had accomplished this feat. Also a new scoring mark was set during this game when John Polis made 30 points, erasing the old mark of 27 set by Eddie Henderson in 1946. On March 2 the team entered district competition by playing fast Chain. Running up against a hot team they lost their first debut by a score Coach Kraft and Captain John Polis. .- ,9 49.
