H1 Lltes Staff Sousaphone Solo Carmval Queen 4 J, ,, 4- -2,3 -1,2 -2,3 -1,2 -1,2 i2,4 .H - -1,2,3,4 . -1 . 1. -.3 ' -2,4 --2, --2 3 ...-2,3,4 ' ' - '- ' '--2 -4 ' -2,3, U H 4 - 4 Annual Staff - 4 --4 '-' -3,4 '-' -3,4 -4 ., -4 ...--3,4 -1,2,3, -1,2,3,4 4 -2,3,4 ., -2 3 ., -4 ' --2 -1,2,3,4 - -2 -2 4 -3 ' -4 '-' -3,4 -4 44 Q J K ah In the fall of 1948 a group of bewrldered freshmen entered Klester High School These Jolned the former students of K H S who were Sylvia Tufte Barbara Gries Donna Gries Ar hs Elxebak Gllma Wlgern Eleanor Hochrelter Beverly Haukoos Erlys Neve LaVonne Lacher Stanley Challgren Dennis Christianson Orville Courrier Earl Hermundstad Arthur Hedum Robert Kastner Richard Kastner Roger Oldfather and V1rGene Schroader This made an enrollment of 41 During that year we lost three members They were Floyd Frei dal Bruce Meyer and Eileen Peterson who moved to Scarvllle Our In1t1at1on Day turned out to be a happy one for our Principal Mrs Godfrey dis rvnssod us in the afternoon to sell magazine subscriptions and to go to a baseball game at Frost Wlth the carmval coming up soon we e'ected Mildred Scherb as our candidate Even if we dldn t win we surely made a good try Everyone survived our freshman vear by the help of Mrs Murphys exerclse routlne, which was running around the block dunng Engllsh class Next we became the sophisticated sophomores That year we lost four more members They were Beverly Haukoos Delano Finch John Scrabeck and Kieth Heavner All wasnt lost for we got two new members Dollis Babcock and Merna Sunde Our carmval queen that year was Lorraine Kalls and we were getting closer to the title of carmval queen Edge water Park in Albert Lea was where we spent our class picnic During our Junior year we lost one more member Melvin Haukoos who Joined the Navy This vear was perhaps our busiest and also quite lucky year That year we finally won the very kind and generous to glve us a half day of school off After talking about where to go and what to do we decided upon the State Hospital at St Peter We found it very interesting and beliexe it or not we all came back home Our Jumor class play was A Husband for Sale which proved to be a great success The Junior Semor Banquet was another big event in our Jumor year The theme was A Night In Hawaii The gym was very beautifully decorated in blue crepe paper with stars hanging down The boys had quite a Job too for they had to make palm trees We finally found ourselves as Seniors Jimmy Parriott was chosen as Homecoming Kmg and Maureen Wuerflem was our candidate and also Carnival Queen We all traveled to Ma son City and had our pictures taken and all spent a very enjoyable day Our skip day was si ent in Minneapolis where we went through the Federal Reserve Bank and the Ford Plant In the evening we all went to the Ice Follies which proved to be very entertamlng For our Senior class play we decided to have a change and have a western It was Desperate Am brose which went over very well Another big event was the Jun1orSen1or Banquet The Juniors chose for their theme The Gay Nine les We are anticipating our two last events of the year which are Baccalaureate and Com mencement which will mark the end of our high school days There have been days when we were sick and tired of those old familiar walls but as x e thunk back it seems that only the good da s are remembered We will always remember and cherish those years at K H S I3 I . f X, f r 1 A Y , . . s .0 ' ' . . . Kiester, Frost and Bricelyn had a Jr. High meet at Bricelyn with Kiester easily winning, taking first in everything except the high jump. They had a total of 10414 points.
