V 4.151 , .,- , 1 He- . ' ' - :If , , . NORTH TEXAS FEMALE CQLLEGEQ This institution, was chartered in 1877, is the .property of North Texas Conference, M. E. South. A g ' . 1 Location. ' Sherman, the county seat of Grayson County, is situated at the intersection of the Houston Sz Texas Central and the Trans-Continental branch of the Texas 8a Pacific Railroad, 328 miles north of Houston, and 145 miles west of Texarkana, and is the terminus, of the Cotton Belt and the M. K. 85 T, railroads. Sherman has seven miles of well-equipped street car line, electric belt. Built on the ridge which forms the watershed for the Red River on the north and the Trinity on the South, -it is not surprising that statistics should point to this as one of the most heathful locations in Texas. Its population is about twelve thousand, and the culture, refinement, and morality of its citizens, the advantages, for social, intellectual, and religious improvement, easiness of access, and freedom from local causes of sickness, the beautiful scenery and delightful climate, make it a suitable home for young ladies desiring an aesthetic and scholarly education, . The location of the College has been well chosen, the climate of North Texas having advan- tages over that of higher as well as lower altitudes. ' The temperature is mild and regular, the mercury rarely registering below thirty or above ninety degrees. - Buildings and Grounds. T The College, a new, commodious, and beautiful brick building, is at the west end of Mul- berry Street, and within two blocks of the street car lines running from the union depot-a 'retired situation, combining the pleasures of the country with the convenience of the city. lt is' fumished with coal heaters and supplied with gas. The school buildings number the Lyceum, Art Hall, Music Hall, six dormitories, and several neat cottages. Q The dormitories with a capacity for 300 boarders, are carpeted, neatly furnished, well venti- lated, and suppliedrwith incandescent lights, bathrooms, and every convenience necessarry to comfort and health. The College has connection withwater-works, telephone and electric system. Agents of other schools have used the fact that our buildings are not under one roof as an argument against this Collegeg but to the thoughtful person who understands hygienic conditions, this is in our favor. It has been decided by most advanced educators in the' North that for health and discipline large school buildings are not desirable. We have six beautiful dormitories, each of which is in the care of a responsible teacher, and five are connected with covered passways. h Directions. If you cannot come with your daughters, put them on the cars, notify the President of the College, and they will be met at the depot by a member of the Faculty. , - 4 ' Standing Medals.
