I 11 Sp 1 I'1lL Ufitwl ' ff fly O This year will be better than the last , was a familiar quote heard by Principal Mr. C. R. Wilkerson, and it was. As usual, the boys sports packed them in to their sporting events, but this year's girls sports also had many loyal supporters. Girls teams drew very enthusiastic fans onto the track, gym, and courts. For some students, the way to show spirit is through participation in class. Gym classes took on a new light as onlooking members of the opposite sex have extra incentive to perform better in the new co-ed classes. Of course Cheerleaders play a large part in promoting spirit in the school. Besides cheering at games they spend many hours after school painting signs to promote spirit. If by chance you didn't have the spirit, all you had to do was find a Varsity cheerleader, buy a spirit towel, and fake it.

We 1. Each player has a style all his own, individual as his name, in readying himself for the game. Though mentally psyching oneself is a solitary effort, unity of the team is there. David Dun- can eaves the lockers ready. 2. Sean Allison uses the force to introduce the galaxy of groups who keep things in orbit at Kickapoo to the freshmen, and their champion, Rob Daniel. A Stars Wars theme lets the Bonnies and Football Team take a bow. 3. Everything from the band to the fool- ball team promises enthusiasm and excitement unique to the first assembly of the year. Spirit flows into each stu- dent, as each student flows into the sta- dium forthe How Day assembly. 4. Finally becoming juniors means the promise of class rings. After waiting for two years, class rings give juniors a feeling of achievement and belonging to Kickapoo. Ioe Brown seems to find that certain ring. 5. Come on boys don't kill each other! say Patty Fleetwood and Dina Love while watching two football players pound each other with stuffed socks at a pep rally. Shelly Pearce just can't watch anymore. 6. May I have your attention please for the afternoon announcements? asks Brad Southwick. National Forensic League member. Telling all the events and excitement at Kickapoo gives Brad credit for his Public Speaking Class. 7. Echoes of a traditional standing ova- tion honor the 1977 Chief Ceremonial Queen. leannette King as she returns along with her escort David Duncan to crown the 1978 Ceremonial Queen Tamrha Sanders. With a touch of Autumn Charm.
