Through the 1978-79 season, they carried on that tradition. Varsity ended their season with a 19-9 record. Coach Sue Schuble feels the girls did very well considering they were a young team with only two starting seniors. The team won the regional championships and from there went to state competition where they were beaten in the first round. Iunior Varsity, with the prestigious reputation of being undefeated since Kickapoo's opening, broke their winning streak with a single loss which brought their record to 15-1, yet they still defended their impressive record against many older and more experienced teams.
