Under the leadership of Capt. William Niland and with the direction of Coach Walter S. Rose, our team put up such hard and fast games throughout the season that they came very near to copping the honor- ed first place in the League. l The spirit that was shown this season was something like that which you hear the Alumni of our school talk about,-teams that could meet and hold and sometimes beat college championship teams. With the fight shown this past season plus the experience netted from the year's service, next year's team ought not to be stopped by anything. Our boys lacked nothing but experience in this year-'s contests. Thus handicapped, they deserve double credit for their successful efforts in bringing victory to Tonawanda High. Alma Mater, or that Lasky was one of the best captains that ever led a maroon-and-I white team to victory. It was through no lack of fight that we sustained defeat ati the hands of our ancient rival, N. T. It took a mighty good team to defeat us, and another good team to accept defeat gracefully. Later when the field was dry, the squad moved out there to practice, and have been working faithfully ever since. Many veterans reported for the team this year, among whom are Foels, Niland, Bedell, Lasky, Camman, Halm, and I-Iarrer. The veterans will have to hustle, how- ever, because there are many promising candidates for the team. The team is again being coached by Mr. Tussing. Raymond Foels is the captain, and Thomas Rowley is the manager. T. H. S. is a member of the Western New York Baseball League, composed of Niagara Falls, North Tonawanda, Lockport, Kenmore, and Tonawanda. The schedule shows eleven games, the last with North Tonawanda to be played on our field on June 8. At that time, we expect our boys to hold a place high in the League.
